Darrelle Revis sat out several drills at Jets minicamp Monday in protest of his contract situation, and told reporters after the workout that he is serious about a training camp holdout.

Revis also reiterated that he wants a contract larger than Nnamdi Asomugha's three-year, $45.3 million blockbuster. "That's the bar," Revis said. New York's shutdown cornerback called the Jets' recent contract offer, which included no fully guaranteed money, "an insult." "I might be at training camp, I might not," Revis added. "As of right now, it doesn't look good."

    1) Asomugha money!? Revis, keep on dreaming... no way ANY CB is worth that kind of money.

    2) No fully guaranteed money!? Tanny stop being cheap and offer him a fairly structured contract.

    - Revis signed a hell of a deal as a rookie... he should be thankful to the Jets instead of bitching so much with 3 years left!!! I can understand Chris Johnson (Titans), he signed a small deal... but Revis got paid way more than he should have considering where we drafted him.

    - At this point I'd like the Jets to re-sign Mangold and possibly one between D. Harris and D'brick so Revis doesn't have the "Jets don't reward players they draft" excuse anymore...

i dont like how he is starting to become a distraction...i mean its one thing to threatin to sit out of camp its another to show up and not participate and distract the rest of the team...i love this guy just as much as everyone else and think he deserves to be paid so we can move on with this...

If Revis and his agent are really going to take a hard stand on the Aso contract we should just take the option to buy back the last 2 (guaranteed or not) and try to move him for 2 firsts in next years draft.

    That's not a reasonable contract.

Me too... I always promise to myself I won't get caught up in it but everytime I read news about it I get mad.
At this point I think a TC hold out is the most likely outcome... I can't see Tanny giving him 15 mill per season when we have him for less than 7.

    We aren't a chartiable foundation!

    Amen...

darelle is about a step and a half away from alienating his entire fanbase

this is not simply posturing. it's childish

I guess he doesn't care at all about winning. Threatening to sit out training camp when your team is contending for a super bowl. good job buddy

I'd really like to see a clarification about the language of his contract. I have seen conflicting reports about the final 2 years - some reports say that the final 2 seasons were voided, others say that Revis has the option to void the years.

IMO, that's pretty important to know if you're going to have an understanding of who is in the right with the stuff that Revis said.

All he can do is threaten and maybe sit out the first week. He has to be in camp by August 10th or he screws himself more than he screws the team.

Final two years are in place, if Revis wants he can void them, but if the Jets want they can buy them back (after Revis voids them) at a superior price.

Revis will void those 2 years for sure and the jets will buy them back at 5 mill in 2011 and 15 in 2012

He's getting a pass cause he's a great player but the fact is, his behavior here is awful. You sign a deal, you honor the deal, period. Guy isn't close to being done with this deal and is already pouting.

That's my understanding based on everything I've read. And if they're really going to take a hard stand on the Aso deal I have to believe the Jets will just buy back the final 2 years and look to trade him next year. They did well protecting themselves with that contract and then by getting Cro and Wilson.

For all we know this could just be a hard negotiation tactic to get as close to the rediculous Aso deal as possible, but it's geniunly beginning to sound like he isn't taking any less.

Fuck Revis. He's here weather he likes it or not, he signed HIS deal he fought hard for, he has to live up to to it.

Spend the money on Mangold, Harris and Brick. Let Revis play out his deal and redo it next year, screw him.

Darrelle Revis is a great player and I'd love to have him play for the Jets for his career. That said, no cornerback is worth major disruptions to the team. CB is just not that valuable a position, all you need there is people who don't consistently get burned.

Nnamdi Asomugha, Champ Bailey, Asante Samuel and Darrelle Revis have been the standard for Pro Bowl CB's for the last several years. Asomugha has no playoff appearances in that span. Bailey has no playoff appearances in that span. Samuel has 3 appearances, two of which turned into losses because his team couldn't stop Kurt Warner despite Samuel's presence and because his team could not stop the Cowboys from running all over them on the ground, despite Samuel's presence. Revis has one playoff appearance which ended in a defeat because his team couldn't stop Peyton Manning despite Revis presence on the field.

Cornerbacks are not impact players. Even in Rex Ryan's system they do not determine wins and losses. Having a good one makes a real difference in overall team cohesion if the alternative is a bad one, but basically NFL offenses have little difficulty finding the weak link and severing it. The cornerbacks, being on the edge of the field, are both the easiest weak link to find since nobody can back them up perfectly, and they're the position least likely to be able to make a difference if somebody else is screwing things up since they'll just get ignored out on their island while the team loses the game elsewhere.

Having a great CB means that the game gets reduced to the quality of the rest of your defenders and whether or not the opposing offense is a better 10-on-10 at that point. It makes a big difference statistically in the matchup of the specific WR being covered but not a lot else. If the rest of the team is up to par you win and if they're not you lose, which is why Aso and Bailey can keep having Pro Bowl seasons for teams that aren't going anywhere.

Revis is really being a douchebag. He has to know why the Jets haven't signed him yet. At this point, don't piss him off anymore just sign him.

Revis really is a pain in the ass, but we did go to him at the end of the season and say were going to give him a new contract. In hindsight we shouldnt have told him that so quickly, hes using that as his biggest excuse. He is right but the money he wants his absolutely ridicolous
