Awesome find. Mike T. is back to having leverage in negotiations. Hopefully Revis does the right thing and just sucks it up or this could get extremely ugly.

who gives a fuck? that's a risk you take in signing any player so the only way to avoid that is not to sign anyone. is that really the solution you are supporting?

how about we simply let the actual parties in this matter work it out before jumping to conclusions, worrying about nonsensical bullshit or condemning one of our best players.

Their has to be a ground here on
"look we know you're th best corner in the business, but Al Davis is a lunatic...Javon Walker? DeAngelo Hall? Tommy Kelly? And their are probably more slipping my mind."

But look at the success they've had, none...The 2nd highest paid corner is Clements? I say set the hardline for Revis at $12 million per season, which is a crazy amount for a Corner.

Mangold is the top priority to me as well as others have said.

    Potentially good news everyone

John Geiger, Revis’ manager and best friend, hash-tagged the Jets on Twitter and hinted toward good news in the coming hours. Geiger is far from the type to play around when it comes to business, and he’s close enough to Revis to know facts before they hit the beat.

Let's hope they have begun to find a middle ground for both the organization and Revis, and maybe all that talk from yesterday could be bullshit after all

I for one freaked out yesterday and maybe it was a little overboard of me to think Revis was a selfish player, but let's hope this is good news

Fuck yeah. Just got paid, grabbed some food to grill, rack of brews, and some good Revis news potentially.
That kid Geiger is with Revis 24/7 all day every day. He wouldn't fuck around by making that twitter update.

Don't think so, besides "Alvin" was a little bitch anyway, he would always try and make himself look like the good guy, and turned Leon, and his family against the Jets, which led to him leaving in the first place, Leon can thank "Alvin" for pretty much ruining Leon's career, I hope he does well in Seattle, but he had a chance for security with the Jets and asked for too much money.

I don't think John Geiger would do Jet fans wrong by saying that in a twitter message and not mean it.

I don't think Alvin ruined Leon's career, the nasty injury did (yeah, I don't think Leon will fully recover), but he sure cost him a lot of money. And judging from the videos Revis has posted on youtube, Geiger seems like a cool guy while Alvin came off as a complete assclown in Hard Knocks. However, I'm pretty sure Alvin was constantly trying to encourage the fans and look like the good guy by indicating that a contract would be signed within a day.

Hopefully Revis doesn't wind up holding out because of Hard Knocks (yes I did see that tweet).

Revis needs to get that Oakland shit right out of his mind.

11 per year, gets everybody where they need to be, but the contract should contain a de-escalator clause in the final 3 years should negotiations be broached by the player during the contract.

I'm sure Tanny and Rex told/are telling Darrelle that they'd love to pay him 50 million a year if they could, but then the team will go nowhere. DR has to weigh his options: hold out for a lucrative monster-contract that cripples the salary cap (who knows where that will go) or take a very reasonable offer in the low 10's with much of it guaranteed to keep our core players intact.

Pick your poison man: Bathing in the millions and having a shitty team that won't go back to the playoffs because we can't afford to sign Mangold and Harris, or.. bath in slightly less millions while being a perennial playoff/superbowl contender.

I've been saying all along that I think a 6 year, $80 million deal (with $40-45 million of it guaranteed) is more than fair for all parties involved.

If Darrelle holds out to get $16+ million a year it could hurt the organization's ability to resign the rest of the "Big Five" (Mangold, Harris, Ferguson, and either Braylon OR Holmes).

Fortunately, Harris, Cromartie, and Holmes are all set to become RFAs right now so we can at least tender them for compensation in case we can't re-sign them to long-term deals. Right now I'm more concerned about Mangold. Once he is re-signed I will feel a bit more comfortable.
