I was thinking exactly that. Sort of like how the Jets would green up Giants Stadium. Removable decorative items.
While I'm sure Cowboys Stadium is gorgeous, this place blows away Gillette. That place is a very simple beams-holding-up-concrete-steps-with-seats-on-them stadium. It's also in the middle of a suburban town with a horrible traffic and parking setup.
The view from tier 3 was about what I expected. The tier is farther back and higher up. I won't pass any major judgments until the opening MNF game, where I can judge with a real game, but I have a feeling I'll be somewhat disappointed with the added distance from the field. Section 309, Row 18 (people are tiny :sad Overall, I think my biggest complaint are the indoor facilities (club/suites). They are basically arranged like a large cafeteria (club), and medium sized living rooms (suites). All of which force me to envision winter games, with packed third tiers, but mostly vacant seating on the first/second tiers along the sidelines. Honestly, does anyone really expect people with suites to brave their freezing cold seats, when there are essentially warm, cozy hotel rooms, fixed with giant flat-screens, couches, and windows facing the field, just a few feet away? Likewise can be said for the club sections. I know the argument can be made, they paid for the right (and they did) to sit where they please. But, IMO, this just exemplifies all this stadium has really done: taken stadium football away from a good amount "real" fans and placed it in the hands of fair-weather fans (literally, now) with deeper pockets. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, though. At least, I hope so.
My Sister lives 3 miles form the stadium and my brother in law owns the company that used to clean the windows and screens at the stadium... I haven't seen it live but, according to them its' awesome - they have a whole area for Food / Happy hour and restaurants that's open year round and gets decent crowds in the summer Bands playing. Sounds like a party to me - sounds nothing like what I've been hearing from the swamp.
Gillette is a shit hole. One way in, one way out. Route 1. Thats IT. No escalators because "its too cold" yet the Meadowlands has escalators and 95% of the time they work just fine so that excuse was just piss poor. The stadium's concourse is wide, very wide, I think wider than what ours will be (and yes I've taken a tour of the NMS) but the stadium as a hole isn't exactly the greatest thing ever. The mall surrounding it is just weird and an inconvience to walk through/around when entering.
If you are referring to my defending of Woody, my only complaint is the new Stadium, but I don't blame him from his perspective, hell he's gonna make a ton of dough over the next few years. I think he's done a great job as our owner, I just don't think we needed a new place right next to the old place. I was happy where we were.
The view in that pic looks fine to me, I must be going crazy. I have been there and I was pleasantly surpised w/ what I saw. Keep in mind that while the Stadium is taller the field is also higher than where the old field was so the difference isn't as great as it seems when we would see the 2 building sside by side. I reserve the right to change my mind on the building when I see a football game there but for now I think the Stadium looks great as far as the views go.
Yea but that is a picture of a UD row 18 sideline seat which you needed at least 15 years senority to get. New guys got offered UD endzone row 20-26 - When jets are on other side of field you have 70 plus rows to back of endzone and another 10 yards across field and the height to contend with. ALso in endzone you can't see the screens on your side. So even that is not so great. UD Sideline you have four screens that are closer than the only two screens you can see from UD EZ.
The old Giants stadium, as was told to us by our "tour guide", was actually built a whole level (one floor) below ground-level. I have pictures on my phone (taken yesterday as well) that show this. So even if the new stadium field is higher, I would suspect the gain is probably negated since the new stadium is built on ground-level.
I don't think there are 26 rows of seats in the UD. I posted a pic on here where I walked to the last row in the UD and I thought the view was fine. We'll see when games are on the field but my first impression was a good one.
26 rows in the upper deck eat your humble pie click any section in the uppers http://www.seatandrow.com/NFL/NewMeadowlands/NewMeadowlands.htm
Are the PSL's still slow moving out the door? Any word on whether they're going to drop prices any further?
There definitely are 26 rows in the UD (third tier). StubHub even has some for sale: http://www.stubhub.com/new-york-jets-tickets/jets-vs-patriots-957052/
Actually, I'm in Sect 332 Row 26 and that's not even the last row. I don't know off the top of my head, but I'm at least 5 rows ahead of the last row so I'm gonna go on a limb here and say that there's at least 30 rows in the UD.
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=520657&page=38 look at 753 on this attached thread to see picture of last row in middle of UD EZ New Meadowlands Stadium. Worst seat in house as in being farthest from field of play.
