That's no different than any other year before PSL's. There would be hundreds/thousands of listings on craigslist for Jets tickets in April before the May 1 due date for the ticket invoice. Depending upon the location they would go for face value (or even below) for less desirable seats and some would be listed for ridiculous amounts. That's where I was getting my tickets from for years. Actually I think there are fewer listings on craigslist this year at this time then there were for the past 3-4 years.
It makes sense to continue doing that then... buying them for face or less than face in May. The more I think about it, the more interested I am in just buying the games I want to go to and the hell with all this other crap. In my case, I can do this and truly "walk away" next season, as many have already done.
PSL's in a shared stadium is an idiotic attempt on getting the public/fans to pay for the stadium. PSL's only give you the right to purchase tickets to the games and NOT any other event held at the new stadium. How else are they going to offer a seat to a concert to two people who own the seat? Giants' fan and Jets fan. I gave up my seats because I refuse to pay for the stadium via PSLs. They're not worth it and only the rich can afford it. Now if we were a winning team, year after year and made it to the SB every few years, maybe, just maybe it would be worth it...but the Jets are a mediocre team and have been for many many years. Sure, we did great last year and in 1998, but you can't tell me we are a team that is worth paying $4-5K for a PSL and then $125/game per seat. Not to mention paying an additional $250 for parking. The Jets have outpriced themselves from the market...just because we play in the Metropolitan area that is a top market, doesn't mean you can get top dollar for an average product.
I guess it is safe to say the answer is no. The TC/LGL PSL price cut was the last opportunity to jump in on fairly priced PSL seats with a fairly priced ticket price. They are all gone. I know a lot of UD people with regret they did not make that move as they were hoping for the 15k or 20K seats to be cut in price or for a seat reallocation in UD. Neither happened. PSL people will soon be out of work either way by mid September. By then either sold out (I doubt) or you have sold all you can for this year. With the first two games of regular season in September being the most desirable games of year, no need to buy a PSL at all this year once those two games are played.
To SanchezPrime who wrote: See New England Patriots- Their tickets are outrageous and parking is about double to what we will pay. __________________ The Pats are coming off a DYNASTY. Multiple Super bowls, playoffs just about every year. I hate them with every bone in my body but I have to admit that over the last 10 years they have been one of the best. Our last 10, not so much. We did very well last year but that could be fluke year like the last 2 times we made the AFC Champ game when we lost to the Broncos and Dolphins. That's less than once every ten years. I love the Jets and always will but the Jets are a very different product and should be priced accordingly. BTW - If we had not gotten the "Indy gift" and missed the playoffs last year I bet the PSLs would be less than 1/4 sold today.
Past performance is not an indicator of future peformance. Jets biggest mistake was trying price guaging. I think if GHC, Mezz Clubs, LGl and TC were priced originally at what they are now and they made UD people aware of the parking prior to ticket purchase. In LGL section Jets offered a sideline ten yard line PSL for 7.5k with a $125 ticket with nothing down with good parking and gave entire UD first dibs on those seats. Giants charged 10k for same section. Those seats are selling on stubhub for on average $250 a game, So paying 7.5k to buy seats at 1/2 market price was not such a bad deal. My two friends in UD refused good seats in that section after they knew about parking and now have something I thought I would never hear, PSL remorse for not buying. My friends are now saying the 4k and 5k PSLs seats aren't that great, the 6k and 7.5K are basically sold out and I won't pay 15k and up for a seat.
"People selling PSLs may not have been to school but they have Ph.D.s in man's ignorance." They know that "in any market, as in any poker game, there is a fool.
Call me retarded and I've posted this numerous times. I'm obsessed with the Jets, they are my life outside my life. If you know what I mean. Some people love mountain climbing, or kayaking, I love the Jets. I don't mind spending money on this as it's my sole form of entertainment and joy besides family and all that shit.
i cant say i have ever been completely and totally obsessed as you are making it out. it matters a little bit less how the jets do every year. i am done with getting all fired up about a team that doesnt give a damn about me or mine. life is too short to worry about sports too much. as they will give you health problems, especially if you are a mets and jets fan. i watch for the fun of it and to hopefully enjoy a good game but i dont live and die with it anymore. you can thank herm edwards for that. god how i hate him.
http://www.giants.com/minicamp.asp Giants are panicing too, this is like tenth time they tried to sell me a PSL.
Just got a cold call from a Jets sales rep again. Seems like I'm on the 4 week call schedule. I'll never forget though before the AFC championship how my wife entered the contest for a trip to Indianapolis and she got a call in the morning, "Hi - I understand you entered our contest for an all-expenses paid trip. Well I have good news... you didn't win but there are some exciting opportunities to buy tickets at the new Stadium!"
Got a call the other week had the nerve to leave me a message asking to call back. I don't even know how they got my cell number.
I've been getting calls quite often. I'm going to avoid the PSLs. On the wait list for Upper Deck seats. Bought tickets to the second preseason game and I'm going to take the rest on a week-by-week basis. I have Yankee season tickets as well so the bulk of the games i go to will be later in the season when it's colder and people sell their seats WAAAAY below face. Can't wait for the games to get underway!
