17A so are you guys are tailgatin starting with 1st preseason game or are only starting with Monday Night opener?(one good thing is Monday night opener is 7:00 start) JJ84 JS
Any chance we could join this tailgateathon for the Ravens and Pats games? I am coming over for both games, only down side is the wife will be in tow . Plus side is she can drink and do as she is told!! lol!
17 A, I was out at stadium for BonJovi concert with wife and we tailgated by Rt 120 outer lot (right underneath Meadowlands flashing sign) and evidently that was a very good lot for a quick getaway. We met friends there, we took the train and that was a fcuking fiasco, but thats another story I'm wondering if that will be an upperbowl non-psl lot.
So for someone who has never been to an NFL game, but would like to get the full experience... If the game starts at 1, what time should I get there to enjoy the tailgating? And like... how does it work? People make food and I can buy it from them or what? I honestly have no idea what it's like, ahah. I'm such a sad little Canadian boy.
A tailgate is usually this: someone + friends show up to the game 4 hours early with a truck/van. You bring all kinds of grillable food, cold food, and most importantly beer. Then you and friends cook/eat the food and drink the beer while having a grand old time before entering the stadium to see the game. Many people bring a football and have a catch in the lot of that's more your thing.
Contact MBGreen, he is the reigning Canadian Little Boy on this site already... You need to verify with him if you can use said term to describe said self... Just looking out for you MB.
after seeing that guy's username....I would say he's from somewhere in the French Alps. see you at the tailgate, PH.
Hey LeTricolore, All kidding aside Tailgating is what truly makes American football the absolute best sporting experience there is. Europe has soccer and pubs where the fans get all oiled up but they sort of do it in small groups, but no where else in the world can a collection of 50-60 thousand people en mass get all excited and share the experience with one big parking area. Like the man said, get a grill(even a small portable one for 20 bucks) and get burgers, hot dogs, put on your Jets Gear, get your beverage of choice and come out to the new Meadowlands 4-5 hours early. Bring some chairs, don't forget the tix. AND THE PARKING PASS!!!! If you are staying in hotel, you can take the train to Jets stadium but then you may want to bring sandwiches, and styrofoam cooler loaded with beverages so you can just discard it when you go into game. Of course, if you have lots of cash(American LOL) you can come empty handed and walk around and go to outdoor restaurant, entertain area which will cost you 8 dollars a beer, 6 dollars for a piece of pizza. There are many ways to skin a tailgating cat but the most fun, enjoyable memorable experince will be my first description of get a grill, cooler, burgers, and get there early. Go JETS!!!!JS
I think L may be a little empty I may be wrong because this is all so new with the Parking Plan but I'm thinking many PSLers will either park very close to stadium or join other tailgates in Non-PSL lots. JimJet84:shit::beer:
He could also pack light, bring a nice bottle of single malt $$$$ scotch to what appears to be a friendly tailgate with folks he's never met before, propose an exchange of scotch for food, and have a grand ole' time.
I'd sure find it peculiar if a French Canadian showed up at my tailgate offering single malt scotch in exchange for a burger and company. May take the scotch and dump the French Canadian in Lot P.
Did a little recon today about parking lot situation Hey all, I was out at BonJovi concert and saw parking situation up close and then had some free time today(I work in Meadowlands area) so I drove around to check out possible UD lots. If you look at map sent by Jets with regards to parking situation you will see that UD parking has one prime lot located by Rt 120(basically where the train drops off) That is closest UD lot. If you cross Rt 120 (where the white tents are set up now) that looks like the next best UD lot(but you have to take the tube over Rt 120) Far end of the spectrum is the biggest UD lot that is past the stables by racetrack. I did see signs for shuttle pick up so that is a positive but I'm not sure packing up the tailgate an hour early is worth it. Just my observations Go Jets! JS
