how the fuck are more hometown fans going to be left in the cold when there are 1.2% more tickets for hometown fans? it doesn't matter which team they root for, New York hometown fans will get 6.2% of the tickets whereas every other team fans only get 5%. last I checked 6.2 was higher than 5.

Aren't the Jets and the Giants selling the same seats?? So Which fans/psl owners gets to sell their seats for high dollar superbowl viewers.

Considering there are roughly 2500 hotel rooms in the immediate vicinity, NJ has four years to give NY a major slap in the face by building more hotels.

congrats to the NY/NJ contingent for winning their bid. There's nothing wrong with a cold climate super bowl...it'll be a nice change.

To be honest....I don't care if the SuperBowl was played in Iraq....if the Jets were in it, I'd buy a ticket.

Slap in the face? Who the hell would want to stay in Jersey if they come to the area for the Super Bowl. If you can pay $1,000 per ticket, you're not going to nickle and dime on the hotel.

I think if you are going to spend that kind of change per ticket, you are going to want to save a buck where you can. It isn't like East Rutherford is far from Secaucus Junction.

Yeah, it won't be a problem for New Yorkers, but we're talking tourists. Tourists want to stay in Manhattan. Period. They want to party in Manhattan, see shows, hang out, etc. THEN head to the game. It's more of a weekend thing for them.

Here's the problem with that general frame of mind: it weights the QB so ridiculously in the equation that NFL championships almost always come down to one of the top 4 QB's in the game on the winning end.

I actually like the idea of having the location of the Super Bowl be in weather periodically, so that the game doesn't always devolve into a shootout, one-sided or otherwise.

If the Super Bowl is always in warm weather then it is almost always going to be decided by whose passing game is functioning better on the day. Warm, non-precipitating weather does a bunch of things for the offense and does several things to the defense. It makes WR's route-running much more stable with very few slips and allows them to cut without fear of going down. It makes the QB's passes go further and travel faster, especially in humid air that has not reached the point of precipitation (water vapor is lighter than air and so a relatively humid day gives less resistance to the ball as it travels through the air). It allows the QB to grip the ball more securely in most cases, because the slight slippage chance from perspiration or latent moisture on the ball is much less of a hindrance than cold, dry, weather, which has a tendency to dry out the QB's hands and make them less sensitive as skin temperature drops and nerve-endings on the hands become much less effective at transmitting tactile input.

On the defensive side warm humid weather really punishes the pass rush since the more active players in that kind of situation are the rushers trying to get by the blockers. Defensive backs also have to expend more energy unless they are in a zone defense, because they don't know where the offensive player is going and so they are always in catch up mode.

The one good thing about it is that it gives the NY politicians a big fuck you!
    I agree.

NFL gives away Super Bowl to help sell PSL's

sidebar to the topic at hand:

Great for the New York (and yes, Joisey) area grabbing this!

That said, please.....please!.....if you're going to inject a "Jersey-local" vibe into the proceedings (pre/halftime), fine...whatever.

    BUT!!

Whatever you do, PLEASE do not go the "Garden State" route in the form of that horrid NJ posssseur who seems to have wedged his---and his guido pop band---into all too many sports-related events lately:

    Jon Bon Guido.

Commish-Roger: Pleeeze don't fuck up this portion of the 2014 Jets-34; Cowboys-10 Super Bowl with that fraudulent piece of shit..... pleeze????!

Anyone see that Mangold "guaranteed" that this will be the first Super Bowl that has two home teams playing in it? ("Put my stamp on it, this will be the first two home teams playing in the Super Bowl.") Pretty big risk counting on the Giants that way, don't you think?

Well it's a good thing they built all those luxury bars into the stadium, because her'e what you will see during SuperBowl 2014.... EMPTY SEATS. Everyone will be in the bars watching it on TV. But as long as the tickets are sold "who cares?" right Woody.

And on the PSL topic. If you actually "owned" those seats you should have first right of refusal on those tickets right?

You know for sure that Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen will perform for this thing. Good. I like to be able to use halftime of the Super Bowl to take a dump to make room for more food in the second half.

So what I am hearing is in 2014 IF the Jets make Superbowl But the Giants do not make the Superbowl and since Jets/Giants are host teams and I win the lottery I have a good shot at tickets to 2014 Superbowl!!!!

Now if ifs and buts were candy and nuts oh what a party we'd have.

    Super Bowl 2014

    NEW YORK

    ...and new jersey

It's like they don't want people to know it is actually a NJ Super Bowl.
