He would already be on around $500k but could earn maybe 3 times that in European Rugby. I don't think he is that motivated by money though. Believe it or not but it is not every Aussie kids dream to play NFL. Having a great 10-12 year career earning good money playing the sport you grew up on and leaving the game as a legend vs. leaving at your peak to learn a new game in a foreign land with no guarantees. Different for kickers like Ben Graham and Sav Rocca. Their careers are finished here and they are taking a nice retirement bonus to kick over there. That stiff arm fend, also known as a 'don't argue' is his trademark.
Yeah, but if given the chance to play pro football in New York? Even if it doesn't work out here, he can always go play European Rugby instead.
Another video but I'm mainly posting it because at the 16 second mark it says Jet on his sleeve... foreshadowing maybe?
Dont see it happening. Like syd said, I think he'd much rather go and play union in france than take a shot at a foreign sport. He's an absolute gun, plays for my team. Imagine a 6"5 240 tight end who runs like a halfback.
Like I said, it's really not an ambition that our young footballers have. Don't take that the wrong way, New York is a great big city in a great big country.
I don't see any evidence that he can play OLB, at least from these videos. I mean I don't watch rugby so I haven't seen anything on this kid except for these videos, and aside from his frame and speed, what makes him a candidate from OLB. I haven't even seen him hit, someone posted that he was a solid tackler, but what about shedding blocks and tackling with equpiment is much different with pads. Its harder to wrap up when the ball carrier can smash his helmet in yours. I'm all for this kid coming in, he definitely has the physical skill to play, the question is whether he can pick up the technique.
Yeah, his best skills aren't tackling. He'd be a kick returner/tight end if anything at all in my opinion. He's got great straight line speed, strength through tackles, a big jump which would probably set him up best for TE.
How is Keller the best TE in football? We have to still argue that Revis is the best CB in the league to about 1/2 of football fans. Anyway, this guy looks impressive but not as a LB. I would like to see him succeed as a Jet but I don't know if that'll happen on the defensive side of the ball.
I can see that, when Russell Crowe talks about his team his eyes just light up. He'd rather being doing that as a pro then getting millions as an actor. Russell Crowe is my source for everything Aussie related.
That was my first thought, although my version had a question mark at the end. It's intriguing, though, because the guy is an athletic freak. 6'5" 230+ and he runs like a gazelle. A lot of his skills look like they could translate to the NFL. I'd guess TE as well.
Dustin Keller's 6"2 250 and Inglis is 6"5 245+. Greg is measured at something like 240 but no one really pays attention to measurements after the draft so those usually aren't updated. He's put on at least 10-20 pounds since then, I guarantee he's bigger than 230. He's built more like a taller Kellen Winslow, but would play like Kellen. He's pretty much a perfect build for his sport with his speed. Edit: He started the 2010 season at 112kg so that is 246 pounds exactly.
he looks like an amazing athlete, that being said anyone new to football.......I'd hold off on saying how fast or good they move till they have the all the equipment on. thats a big thing especially for people new to the game. complete badass at Rugby though thats for sure.
all for tanny looking under any rock. The guy is clearly one of the most athletic guys on the planet. He has a natural ability to elude guys chasing him, if we can bring him in, he sure could make for a very interesting addition to the club.
