It is absolutely mind blowing this guy never got a HC job before we hired him. And to think, he could be the HC of the Dolphins right now if Sparano doesn't have those naked pictures of Parcells...

I completely agree. I can't believe the Falcons & MIA passed on this guy. I am SSSOOOOOO glad they did. I want him to coach this team until he retires.

Please Mr. Johnston - keep him here. It took Cowher 11 years to win an SB in Pitt. Please give Rex at least that much time.

P.S. Tell Rex I am up for adoption...

The Rex Ryan "Era" just started. I assume we will have a lot more than 10 top quotes by the time the "era" ends.

"Fuck them" after calling timeout at the end of the second Patriots game

"That's Jets football" after cashing fourth and short to ice the Chargers

    far as the order though....

the one about DYOP should be top 2. That was fuckin awesome. He basically owned the people voting for woodson in that. i remember hearing that press conference and wanting to jump out of my chair with a fist up

Probably Rex's funniest quote was after winning the playoff game against the Chargers and knowing the Jets were facing the Colts in the AFC Championship, Rex said "Obviously we're hoping Peyton doesn't play next week."

Rex is the perfect coach for the New York Jets.. seriously sometimes I smile because I feel like he was born to coach this team.

Its really remarkable how infectious (sp?) his personality is. Players love him, fans love him, hell even opposing fans love him! I work with many pats fans and fans of other teams and they like to talk junk obviously about Rex but you can tell they wish he coached their team by the way they laugh and stuff. And for pats fans their coach brought them 3 rings!! But the ride would be way more fun with Rex than Belichicken.

This is one of my favourites - On having a fight with Channing Crowder before the game down in Miami
"I'm not going to be hard to find out there I'll be wearing a white Jersey with number 77 on it."

good article, great thread. it should be stickied!

but lets remember he has only been here 1 year, remember how enamored many were with mangina after his first year which we had a better record.

before you guys go nuts all i am saying is its only been 1 year and we havent actually won anything yet. so lets not put him in canton quite yet.

i think the reason he didnt get a job is the things everyone on the board loves about him. while its great for the fans often its not a great thing for a coach to be in the news all the time and continuously saying the things he says and doing the things he does.

those type guys usually dont have a very long shelf life, they tend to burn hot and fast but burn out quickly. there is only so far that gusto can get you and it usually has to happen in the first 5 years.
