Well now, nice to see everyone on the Don train now. Seriously though: Thames is terrible. You can't drop that ball there. Period. The night before was instantly erased right there. Thames shouldn't have been on the field. If you know Nick Swisher can't play you don't send Golson back to the minors. Randy Winn is an awful baseball player. He does so little right. Even as a replacement player he's not worth the roster slot. Screw the bloop. Back the hell up. Oh, and have Long show you how to hit like a man. Neither Swisher nor Posada is available to pinch hit in a critical situation over Randy Winn? Even Swisher from the right side is better than Winn from the left. Again, sending down position players when you have two starters definitely out is stupid. The Cervelli bunt was stupid too. I even yelled at the tv at the time so it's not hindsight. You don't put the last guy who hits consistently in the bottom half of your lineup in a position to be an auto out with the tying run in scoring position. Not to mention, Cervelli has the team's highest batting average with RISP. Anything except a ground ball to short or third gets Cano to third. Take the risk. Why put Pena on and wait to send him? The first pitch he should have ran for second. That changes how Papelbon has to pitch the rest of the at-bat. Apart from Mo, who not a single person should be pinning blame on for this loss, it was two unearned runs, there is nothing but shit in the pen. Marte can't get loose? Seriously? What did his vagina crust up? He pitches to one batter every couple days. How the f**k are you not ready to do your job? Robertson obviously has lost any trust Girardi once had in him, and with good reason. And Joba can't find the plate. So what exactly did they call up Melancon and send Golson down for, if not to use him? They don't trust him? I don't blame them, but then why is he here? This is a mid-May game, and the Yankees still have one of the best records in baseball, but this is unacceptable. There is zero health on this team. The outfield is covered by guys who wouldn't be cast in Major League 3. The pen only comes in to throw batting practice. Now we have to deal with the Rays? Awesome.
Come on, guys. Really? Don't tell me I was the only one who could have posted a screen capture or copied an image location. In any case, here's the strike zone on Mo's AB to McDonald: For future reference, use this site or this site.
But why aren't they playing doubles D in that situation? If it's hit over your head the runner on first scores.
I think they were "comfortable" losing that game. All the moves Girardi made or didn't make illustrate this. Posada said he would be ready for a PH and Swisher said he could bat R in an emergency. I'd rather have Swisher batting R against Papelbon than Winn batting L. Leaving Joba out there that long...I mean if they wanted the game Mariano could have gotten 4.
You play no doubles defense to prevent someone from getting into scoring position. Youll give up a couple singles and make them get three hits to score. Once you have guys in scoring position you have to play as if one run wins....thus, you dont wanna get burnt by the bloop hit. And 95% of th ehits against Mo in hos career havebeen bloop hits. Thames and Joba are the only two dicks we need to blame for last night
