Here's something we already know: the 2011 NFL Draft will be stacked with gifted 3-4 DE prospects.

Here's something most do not know: one of the best 3-4 DEs that could come out of that draft is at this point a relative unknown: Kheeston Randall, from University of Texas.

Randall could end up staying a relative unknown amongst the casual draft fan despite his talent, since Texas could end up netting a few more L's this season without Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley, Sergio Kindle, Earl Thomas, Lamarr Houston, etc -- they are still a tremendously talented team though.

Randall will likely not crack the first round unless he has a monster season, and he will only be a junior so he may not declare, but nevertheless his name is worth knowing.

Kheeston is 6'5, 295 lbs, is pretty athletic with a 4.95 40, and has some starting experience at Texas although he has only had limited playing time in a DT rotation in his two years there. In limited playing time last season he notched 23 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 TFL, 9 QB pressures, and a forced fumble (as credited by the Texas Athletics website). His forte is run-stopping but he can clearly get to the QB and should be a force at DT for the Longhorns this seasons. His coaches want him to add more weight so he can battle with the best and biggest OL in the Big 12, so expect him to open the season at 6'5, 305 around -- the perfect size for a 3-4 DE. His superior run stopping ability combined with his athletic + pass rushing abilities make him a great prospect to make the seemingly smooth transition from 4-3 DT to 3-4 DE, especially when you have his size and strength.

He's also a smart player, on and off the field, as he is a member of UT's Athletics Director's Honor Roll. If he declares for the draft after a good season he could either see himself get drafted in the late 1st in the same place Odrick did, or due to the star power in the 2011 1st/early 2nd round, could find himself in the 2nd or even as low as the 4th due to the 3-4 DE talent.

He's a name to keep your eye on, and we could fill a hole with a very talented player later in the draft.

Yeah...an impressive DT from one of the best programs who will be the top prospect on its defensive line this season...definitely.

    Get a life man.

Remember when you touted Vince Oghobaase as a surefire 1st rounder. When did he get drafted? What about Carlos Dunlap as the hands down #1 prospect in the 2010 draft? If I had the free time you did, I could go back and find 100 posts of yours on certain players that turned out to be far from intelligent or accurate. I say I could instead of would because, simply put, I don't care what you think. You don't work in the NFL, you sit on your computer and try to make declarations about things you feign to have a ton of knowledge on.

Kheeston Randall will be a name to keep an eye on, regardless of any dimwitted garbage you can think of posting.

    I think I smell a bet here......

Mr. E's Southern Cal defensive lineman Armond Armstead
    VS
The GM's Kheeston Randall from University of Texas.

    What's at stake here?

How about The GM goes back to his Falcons' board and I stay on TGG?

I think USC's Jurrell Casey is one of the best defensive line prospects in this entire draft, but Monte Kiffin is very excited about Armstead.

Yeah...back in 2008 when just about everyone thought he was a late first to early second round talent?

Remember when you said Rashad Jennings was a first round talent? I'm sure everyone in the draft forum can find stupid shit like this all day long. It's pointless.

I wasn't comparing Randall to Robinson as players. I compared this Kheeston Randall thread to the one your started on Lee Robinson last year. It's eerily similar:

    http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=43447&

You find players that have no draft hype whatsoever and make them seem like football gods. I think Randall's got the potential to have a very good year at Texas, but he's done close to nothing so far in his career.
