First off I wanna start out by saying I LOVE the drafted players this year. Wilson will be elite, Ducasse could be an All-Pro around that O-Line, McKnight is a great compliment to Greene, and Conner is our FB of the future. BUT I thought it would be entertaining to go back into the draft and selected players of our own as if we were Woody Johnson so feel free to make your own.

(This Re-Draft includes all the Jets off season moves including Leon trade, Faneca cut, 4th Round Move up, etc.)

    Round 1.
    Rodger Saffold, OL, Indiana
    [IMG]
-Addressing the Oline early, Staffold could definitely play OG and has better pass blocking skills then Ducasse.

    Round 2.
Alex Carrington, 3-4 DE, Arkansas State
    [IMG]
-We now address the DL and put a perfect compliment to Ellis and Jenks at the opposite 3-4 End. Carrington is a great 3 technique player and can definitely stuff the Run and at 6'5 285 he has good size (same as Ellis) and could even bulk up more.

    Round 4.
    Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB, Indiana (PA)
-Not as good as Wilson of course but has the potential to be an excellent Nickel CB and possible #2 with the potential Safety postion if CB did not work out. Jets get lucky with him falling so far.

    Round 5.
    James Starks, RB, Buffalo
    [IMG]
    - Starks is a Leon type RB, Great Hands for Screen passes, can cut out of the backfield and can return punts and Kickoffs. A trade away for Leon and picking up Stars would make alot of sense. He had great numbers at Buffalo: 127 Receptions for 898 Yrds and 3 Tds , 698 Attempts for 3,140 Yrds and 34 TD's. He ran an underachieving 4.5 40 and has been caught in open field but he could be a nice complement to Grenne.

Feel free to make your own Re-Draft and use this link for help with the avaible players while the Jets were on the clock: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2010/track...1/dt-tabs:dt-by-round/dt-by-position-input:te

    Interesting Idea!

    I would of gone with

    1. J. Best, RB, Cal
    2. C. Brown, OT, USC
    4. AOA, CB, IUP
    5. Cam Thomas, DT/DE, North Carolina

Great Idea fora thread Johnny! Hope more contribute and debate!

Honestly as Jets GM you probably wouldn't have gone Best first b/c at that time LW was still on our team and had no way of knowing if and/or when he'd be traded.

I get what your saying here bro but the Jets had all the intention of trading LW and with his horrific injury, an old LT, and a semi-question mark with Shonn Grenne at starting RB a guy like Best would go hand in hand with Greene. Not to mention this is becoming a Two RB league, Power and Speed.

Very true this argument could go either way depending on your point of view. Some people will see things my way while others would see it yours. I feel with more pressing needs at hand RB in the first would not have been the way to go. But your probably 98% right on the fact they were definitely looking to trade away LW during the draft and Best would have made sense but in the first I feel like it would've been a let down pick.

Basically what i was thinkin here. Im not 100% on Greene and RB is our game so Best would be a great option.

I get that as well, going RB in the 1st wouldnt of been a "Woody" type pick but Best would make great value, remeber he was considered the 2nd to possible 1st best RB in this draft before he got injured.

Have to be honest, I'd much prefer what we got compared to either other draft offered so far. It's impossible to improve on the Wilson pick without a trade down.

I can understand what your getting at, the Wilson pick was incredible theres no denying that but its all just fun and games here. Just something to look back at and see what we could have/ should have done.

Its not a bad concept GH. Would even love to see where you or any other draft expert would go on this, even though are draft was very good.
