AFC East, Breaking News Jets begin contract renegotiations with All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis By Manish Mehta/The Star-Ledger May 13, 2010, 10:18AM Also Manish Mehta who wrote this article said this Nice to see the Jets went to Revis first. Atleast we know of one deal working out between the main core of our players. I couldn't see Revis making 1 Million this year since he is the reason why we can run this defense.
well in order of importance it would be Revis, Mangold, Harris. its just a conundrum to have two people who are the best at their position on the same team looking for new deals at the exact same time. hopefully Harris can settle for a nice deal without breaking the bank. lets see.
If Revis wasn't worried about being considered greedy, he could really ream the Jets for $$$$. The Jets can't let him go when his contract is up. Revis is holding most of the cards in this one. I hope they pay him what he deserves and he retires a Jet.
i agree so many players act so surprised that they are playing for a certain amount of money when they are the ones that signed the contract to begin with lol
One way or another, Revis will be taken care of. We know it and he's knows it. This is a non - issue.
Just get all 3 deals done as soon as possible. I thought I heard that D'Brick wanted a new deal to. These 4 players are very important to our team and we cant lose them.
whatever it is...he should get the same offer LeBron was offered......free strippers and food for life as well as his monetary salary.
what is your current cap status? can you guys afford to resign revis, mangold, harris and anyone who is is either coming up for or having one more year and wants to renegotiate? i honestly don't know your cap situation. that's a really good group of players. also, how does the uncertain cba situation affect these potential new contracts? if there is one thing i am clueless about, it's the cap situation. i almost feel like a team can get around these issues by giving larger signing bonuses instead of money on the deal, similar to how the redskins operate. i imagine woody would consider this route if it does put you in a tight salary cap situation with both your new stadium and your potential super bowl win.
Yeah, because Jets can not franchise him if his contract expires. That was the deal Jets had with him when he signed the rookie contract.
Kind of surprised by Revis being the first approached, seeing how we have him another 2 years... But whatever, hopefully its not an entirely new 6 year deal, but an extension that keeps him in NY until he is 33.
We should be able to resign all our core players, this summer we cleared a lot of cap space, we should be able to resign Revis/Mangold/Harris/Brick with really no problem, the true problem are players like Braylon/Holmes/Cromotrie who could command a shit ton of money that we potentially may not have With a few cuts and some contract re-negotiations we should have no problem remaining competitive, some guys will end up not being re-sign (our core players will def stay no matter what) but that's up to them and how they perform this season
He doesn't deserve to make 1 million dollars for the upcoming season. That's unacceptable for his talent, and what he does.
If I remember correctly the last year of Revis's contract has both a player and a team option on it... it's better to get this done now before that could possibly become an issue.
