Here's Part Two: Big XII: 1. CB Aaron Williams, Texas*- All the skills to take the top CB spot, could make it two corners in the top ten. 2. LB Von Miller, Texas A&M- Fantastic passrusher, a ready made 34 rush LB. 3. DT Jared Crick, Nebraska*- I have a really good feeling about this kid, Suh himself said he's just as good. 4. OT Nate Solder, Colorado- I love converted TEs that move to tackle, could be a top ten pick. 5. LB Travis Lewis, Oklahoma*- Started every game he's played at OU, a rising Jr. that plays like an NFL vet. 6. CB Prince Amukamara, Nebraska- One of the stars of the new Blackshirts, traditional big solid Big 12 corner. 7. QB Jerrod Johnson, Texas A&M- Faltered a bit later in the year, but has all the tools to be a top 5 guy. 8. WR Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma*- Not a 6-4 Adonis like the other top UC WRs so he gets overlooked, but killed last year. 9. RB DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma- A bit of wishful thinking, but if he puts it together he can be special. Speed and a good build. 10. DE Sam Acho, Texas- Reminds a lot of people of Brian Orakpo, more a DE than LB (like Kindle was). Overview: A lot of returning talent in the conference will make for a nice battle next season. In fact, it's impressive to see how many quality players the B12 has considering that there was a ton of guys selected high last season. Big 10: 1. DE Cameron Heyward, Ohio State- The prototype 34 End, I'd take a Richard Seymour-like talent in the top ten. 2. DE Adrian Clayborn, Iowa- Big strong end that can make plays in the backfield. 20 TFLs last year. 3. OT Gabe Carimi, Wisconsin- One of the favorites to be the top tackle taken, has some tech issues but great talent. 4. LB Greg Jones, Michigan State- In terms of college talent, probably the best LB in the nation. 5. WR DeVier Posey, Ohio State*- Any other year teams would be drooling about him leaving early. 6. OG John Moffitt, Wisconsin- Carimi's linemate is probably a little bit better right now, but less value inside. 7. RB Evan Royster, Penn State- People knock him because he doesn't excel anywhere, I think he's at worst a good rotation piece. 8. DE Jack Crawford, Penn State*- Huge potential in this kid, even though Penn State DE's terrify me. 9. OG Justin Boren, Ohio State- A draft wouldn't be complete without an OSU interior lineman. 10. CB Chimdi Chekwa, Ohio State- Almost bolted last year, has some issues but could blow up as a senior. Overview: I think the key on this list is the name NOT on it, and that's Terrell Pryor. Wouldn't be top ten even if I thought he was going to be ready to leave after the year. While not loaded, the Big Ten will always have its share of quality mid level prospects. The top five are all first round talents. Pac Ten: 1. QB Andrew Luck, Stanford**- Big time stud, he's going #1 whenever he goes pro, no matter who's #1. Manning-like. 2. LB Akeem Ayers, UCLA*- Love this guy, more a LB than pure DE, but super athletic and great in pursuit. 34 prospect. 3. QB Jake Locker, Washington- Seeing if you're paying attention, I don't get the hype. Tebow has more potential. 4. S Rahim Moore, UCLA*- Elite ball skills, great attitude. Even 11 months away, I expect him to be a Jet. 5. DT Jurrell Casey, USC*- Big future on him, still seems to be figuring out where his body will be as a man. 6. DT Stephen Paea, Oregon State- Hard working DT from the pacific islands (Tonga), so Jet fans will love him. 7. LB Malcolm Smith, USC- A little on the small side, but Monte Kiffin's going to make him a star at WLB. 8. WR Chris Owusu, Stanford*- If Luck goes, so may Owusu. Reminds me some of Jerricho. 9. RB Jacquizz Rodgers, Oregon State*- Touched the ball over 350 times for a 5'6 guy. Amazing. 10. RB Allen Bradford USC- Punishing rusher with breakaway speed, if only he got a shot at carrying the load. Overview: Finally some defensive guys from places other than SC taking control. Last year saw Alualu rise up, and this year it could easily be Paea and Ayers becoming the cream of the Pac Ten crop. I continue also to list Luck atop my rankings for everything, and drop Locker to the level I think he belongs. Non-BCS: 1. WR Michael Floyd, Notre Dame*- Could crack the top two receivers in the draft if Dayne Crist does well. 2. OT Matt Reynolds, BYU*- Feels to me more like a Right Tackle, but we saw they can go very high. 3. TE Kyle Rudolph, Notre Dame*- Just like Floyd, he can be the #1 TE if he produces in 2010. 4. QB Nathan Enderle, Idaho- A BIG time sleeper QB here, prototype size and arm, and was lights out last season. 5. OT Nate Potter, Boise State*- Worked his way into the lineup last year and emerged as a quality LT prospect. 6. CB Davon House, New Mexico State- Consistent corner that has been starting since day one for the Aggies. 7. OG Andrew Jackson, Fresno State- The President earned All WAC putting Ryan Mathews in the top 12. 8. S Duke Ihenacho, San Jose State- Strong leader among the Spartan DBs, knows how to get to the football. 9. LB Adrian Robinson, Temple*- Explosive underclassmen prospect, hybrid rusher you'll be hearing a lot more about soon. 10. WR Titus Young, Boise State- I like him better than Pettis, speed and consistency made for the slot. Overview: Non-BCS school players going high is no shock to anyone, especially if ND is factored into that, but there are some very intriguing players above. Matt Reynolds and Nathan Enderle are serious prospects if they followup their 2009 with big 2010s.
Very good once again. It seems like both the Big 10 and Big 12 have tons of Front seven talent available. I will say this, Evan Royster scares me. Its one thing to bash Ohio State because of Gholston, I'm totally opposed to that. But I would never want Penn State RB (since that has some real history) on the Jets, but maybe he would be a good fit on the Pats
Rahim Allen is definetly my favorite safety propect the kid can cover, could be the one of the final pieces to make the defense truely elite, well him and Von Miller.
Nice job again. Andrew Jackson is 2011's Mike Iupati. Jackson's been consistently dominant his entire career. Boise's Nate Potter is very, very good. In the PAC-10, I can really see Chris Gallippo stepping up and being the top linebacker on that squad. Jurrell Casey is a guy I mentioned in the 34 ends thread. I think his teammate Armond Armstead has the ability to play 34 end, while Casey has the chance to grow into a big time nose tackle. Looking at all of these players just gets me more excited for college football. This draft has the potential to have one of the best first rounds in a long time. It's not as deep as 2010, but it's got a ton of talent at the skill positions and on the defensive line.
Gallipo might have the biggest potential of any MLB that will be eligible next season, but I heard some rumors about how they're going to be using him at SC next season. Devon Kennard is supposedly going to be the starter in the middle after dominating in the spring, and Galippo is going to slide outside. With them and seniors Smith and Morgan, it should be a lot like what SC had two years ago with Cushing, Maualuga, Matthews, and Maiava.
Love Rahim Moore, this is an outstanding safety class coming up if the UCs declare. I've read some articles on Moore and everything I see makes me like him even more. Here's one of them: http://articles.latimes.com/2009/dec/24/sports/la-sp-rahim-moore24-2009dec24
Man with guys like Moore, McDaniels and Williams in the draft next year, I think it was a good idea to pass on S this year and give Pool a year to prove himself.
Oops jus reading back i obviously meant Moore instaed of Allen i really want us to get 2 big time players in this upcoming draft. Its not very deep so i wouldnt mind trading picks again. Moore, Miller and Bailey are all prospects im watching out for.
Yeah, I knew you meant Moore. The Jets are going to have a couple guys that they can deal off to get picks. One of Santonio/Braylon and Cromartie are probably only going to be here for one more season. I think for next year our top priorities are going to be S, WR, DL, and OLB.
I'm ready to see what Allen Bradford can do now that he's the "feature" back at Southern Cal. He could have a Montario Hardesty-like season under Kiffin. Dillon Baxter is going to steal touches from this guy though.
