i understand the thinking and i didn't think they would have much of a problem selling the PSL's. when news of the PSL's first hit i was saying they would easily sell out the stadium anyway. i was pretty wrong on that one.

For now, yes thats exactly it. OR we can trade away all our best assets and get back to SOJs.
How much was the stadium again ? Ah yes approximately $1.6 billion holy fuckin hell!!
I know paying through the nose is hell, but this is no ordinary team we have now and elite teams cost cash, whatever sport.

    See New England Patriots-

Their tickets are outrageous and parking is about double to what we will pay.

Original value of PSL's were about $180 million, $360M for Jets and Giants combined.
Add to that an additional $45M or so per year from luxury boxes, probably $750M from naming rights, restaurant and concession revenue (which they did not get before) and they are well over 1/2 a billion.

He was talking of ONLY PSLs

The stadium has no name so nobody has yet benefited from the naming rights

Lets see we only have 65,000 PSls to sell but the NYGs have 82,000 to sell but each club is getting exactly the same amount osf PSL money? H'mm something tells me you ought to try your math one more time

    NO we don't.

If I go see a movie. I pay for the ticket. I don't pay more for a movie that cost $10Million over a movie that cost $3Million to make. I pay for some extra food, 3D glasses, IMAX but I pay a flat rate.

If I go to a Broadway Show I buy a ticket based on where in the theatre I sit. I DO pay more for a musical than a play, but I know what I'm paying for.

If I buy a ticket for a football game I pay for a seat based on where I am in the stadium.

So why "for the privilege" of being a season ticket holder do I get raped? If a season ticket holder tries to sell a ticket, the price of the ticket is.... yup, the printed price on the ticket. If you try to add too much to the price it's called scalping.

I've been a loyal fan for over 40 years. I've been a season ticket holder for 15 of those years. Someday I may not be able to get tickets for a game, but every time I've ever needed extra tickets I've been able to find them, online or outside the stadium. If I save my PSL money I can pay to sit on the 50 yard line.

SO Sales People if you are reading these boards - offer me NO PSL in the lower level I have enjoyed for more than 15 years (I bought my season tickets from a friend) and you've got a deal.

    Your half right.
Agree with the cinema analogy, but Jets football is played ONLY in their stadium , not across various venues across the globe.

PSLs are a horrible idea, one ticket one price whether its sky high or rock bottom.

well other than the away games.... and the ones they may or may not ever play in europe, mexico or japan... :)

it really is highway robbery but they will continue to do it as long as people go out there and buy the things. and although they will not sell them all they will sell enough that it was worth it to them.

Actually, the 7.5k sideline seats are cheaper than the Upper Deck. Good seats in that section are selling for around $225-$250 on stub hub. The PSL fee with nothing down is $60 a game. So that is a price of $185. Which means you are paying for the right to buy tickets at $40 dollars less than secondary price. However, across the aisle the 15k seats with a $140 ticket price and a $120 PSL with nothing down is a $260 ticket that goes for around $250 on stubhub, you are paying for the right to pay over scalper price. Crappy seats in the UD EZ are going for under face for two preseason games and Texans and Bills. They are free but big deal you are paying over secondary pricing. UD Sideline LL seasts are a great deal, no PSL and you are buying tickets at a bargain price. Most PSLs you are paying for the right for nothing, good Mezz A seats, Good LLR EZ corners, Good TC and LGL seats if you are a real fan and plan on going for next 30 years you are being held hostage to get decent seats and in end it will all work out. Trouble is we all can sit UD sideline and the top 20% seats in Mezz A, LLEZ, TC and LGL. Hence the problem Jets are having now. All the "value seats are gone, no-one wants a row 33 in the middle seat in the 20K section. Sales have ground to a halt as all that is left is bargain seekers and jets will have to do a few more sales to get them to buy.

This is it in a nutshell. The PSL seats were always a pricing struggle for them even when the availability and "value" was good. Now that those good seats are gone and the shitty seats in those sections are all that remain, good luck trying to move them.

There's going to have to be a price reduction. I've always said right from the git-go that the seats were priced incorrectly. How is a seat in the last 5 rows the same value as seats in the first 5 rows? I don't care what section you're in. So yeah, if they haven't panicked, they need to.

In Officer's Candidate School in the US Army (circa 1968), they were teaching us infantry tactics and what to do in a firefight. The idea was to instill in the young lieutenants the idea that you always keep your head about you and never let the situation overwhelm you. The joke around the barracks in the evening, however, was, "Don't panic until it becomes absolutely necessary."

I think the time has come for the Jets sales office to panic.

A PSL has way different price points. A stadium has a 30-40 year shelf life. Lets say for example 30 years at 10 games a year or 300 games.
    4K psl is $13.3 a game
    5K psl is $16.6 a game
    15k psl is $50 bucks a game
    25k psl is $83 bucks a game.

However, Giants 5 row UD sideline PSL right on 50 yard line at 1k is biggest bargain in PSL land at $3.33 a game.

On low price PSL people still hate them as Jets can jack ticket prices at whim and if Jets go through a sucky period you can't walk away and you can't sell the PSL.

If Jets said in writing ticket increases can't be more than 3% a year for first ten years and they won't go after you for unpaid balance of PSL loan they would have sold more.

Champ's link above is an excellent example of what Bart Hubbuch is talking about in this article today in the NY Post:

    http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/johnson_won_cut_rates_loom_unsold_GSEfBJl9nMUt899d9X0hZO

An even more telling sign of the discontent: There already is a burgeoning market of Jets and Giants fans with a strong case of PSL buyer’s remorse.

"A survey yesterday of three major PSL resale sites (stadiumpsl.com, craigslist and eBay) showed individuals offering 26 Jets PSLs and an eye-popping 134 Giants PSLs for cost or far below cost — and that’s months before either team has played a game."

Sure, out of thousands of season ticketholders that have paid for PSL's, it is not surprising that a few are selling. Things change; people lose jobs, get transferred, die, etc.

I don't think it is completely a sign of discontent, just normal stuff that happens. Look in today's classifieds, you will see a lot of 2009 and 2010 cars for sale. Does this mean that everyone is unhappy with their new cars? Nah, situations just change.

Ok, maybe that is a bad analogy, there seem to be a lot of late model Toyotas for sale :eek:hmy:

Seriously, we can all shape whatever news story we see to fit how we want it to seem, the boys at CNN and Fox News do that daily.

I think you're wrong on this, but I do understand why you'd want to minimize the significance of these early offerings, especially if you've already purchased a PSL. No one wants to feel that they paid foo much for something or that they paid above what the market will bear.

The fact is, the Jets haven't even mailed out the PSL seat tickets yet and already guys are dumping them for face or below face... and that doesn't even begin to address the PSL payments. It's not even the middle of May and they're not even in possession of them yet, but PSL seats are already on the market at a loss with no chance of recuperating any of the PSL.

This bodes terribly for the Jets for any PSL sales moving forward. When the word gets out en masse on this (and it will), imagine the tough sledding the Jets' will have trying to sell their remaining PSLs. It also sets the tone for any resales. NY ticket buyers are a savvy group and will know they're already being offered at face or below.

Who in their right mind will pay anyone a premium now for the PSL? They'll want to pick and choose their game, without a PSL or "preseason" charge charge and will probably want parking thrown in. And if a sales rep should call now, the logical response from a prospective buyer would be, "Why should I buy a PSL from you and have to pay for parking and preseasons? I can get my tickets in the Lower Bowl on eBay for face value!"

The Jets are screwed with this and it serves them right.

That Craig's List ad that Champ found is a guy selling the tickets of PSL seats for this season, and at what appears to be a $30 or so premium per game. There no mention of the PSL ownership.

227 - I am in agreement with you, but now I wonder if the guys writing these stories fully understand the situation.
