Gholston's offseason Is the same as the regular season, just watching other guys do what he should be doing.
I'm pretty dissapointed that he didn't take this MMA opportunity. I'm as big a Gholston defender as there is on this board, I think, but I really wanted to see SOME indication that he is seeking that "edge". HOWEVER, I will say that I think he is a different type of guy than your normal football player so maybe he'll get that edge a different way. Its this year or no year, tho.
Gholston is like that movie the blind side. They tried to put him on defense until they realised hes just a big floppy vagina. Make him a tight end or something. If you put the ball in Gholstons hands he will do anything to keep from getting hit.
Ugh. Imagine how sick our defense would be if Gholston actually turned out to be even a little bit talented.
If you're going to do that, at least don't screw up his grammar. FTR: I've defended Gholston too, as I do any Jet as long as they're wearing green. Honestly though, I'm pissed off about Gholston though. This guy just doesn't seem to give a damn about the sport.
Came across this on Jay Glazer's twitter.. updating a previous post here about Gholston and his offseason training. As I said, lots of big name guys have gone to MMA training in the offseason and swear by it saying how much it has helped them. Guys like Cushing, Jared Allen, Patrick Willis. This offseason Glazer has picked up a ton of new clients (like a bunch of Falcons, Chris Long, Ryan Grant and many others) to work out with him and mma fighters he trains with like Randy Couture and Jay Hieron. Well today Jay answered a fan's tweet about Gholston working out with him by saying that he offered Gholston specifically to come work out cuz it would help, and he was flat out rejected by Gholston. I really wish he would give it a shot. Pace did it last year and said how much it helped him.. just a shame this bust wasn't willing to explore all his options to try and actually get better, especially when other players say it helped so much. Just a hunch, but I think after Hard knocks, people are going to see a different side to Gholston, hard working guy...etc...etc... With all the new bods in the team and the expectations, most of us are quickly forgetting about him. No pressure on him, this is it for him this season, make or break.
Now that a bigger bust has been released by the raiders maybe the jets will finally let go of this loser.
I watched Gholston closely on a couple of kickoffs live last year and came to the conclusion that he's a spaz.
Someone should kidnap VG and take him to like an abandon warehouse, where Rex, Kris Jenkins, Bart Scott and Calvin Pace (all concealed in masks) all take shots on him and torture him until he either quits football all together or gets his act together
I don't think this is true. I think he just doesn't care. And to me, that's worse than being a pussy. We'll see. I'm hanging on to the last shred of hope with this guy now. It just doesn't seem like he wants to get better. If that's the case, I hope they show him getting cut on Hard Knocks for the whole country to see.
