Our first daughter is on the way so maybe in the future I'll enjoy the castle/princess breakfasts more.
Castle and Crystal palace were ok. Columbia Harbor House is good. Cosmic ray's is good, alot of choices. pecos Bill is ok. Liberty Tree is good. My favorite real restaurants are the one in France in epcot, the Italian one in Epcot, the hibachi place in japan and Fulton's in downton Disney. At universal I like mama's at the Portofino and the best park burgers are at mel's in Universal(also at Wimpy's in IOA).
Want to try Universal, but my daughter (6) doesn't like the thrill rides yet. Maybe in another year or two. My son got selected to participate on stage in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue as a Texas Ranger. Very cute.

Universal Studios has mostly kiddie type rides(I think there are 2 thrill rides), Islands of Adventure next door is the park w/ mostly thrill rides. Your daughter will have fun at Universal.
I live an hour away.. You couldn't pay me to go there anymore. To spend all that money to go there, then to sit in a line for at least an hour for a ride that last 2 minutes, for get it. When you go there, just bend over while walking through the gate, because Mickey is screwing you...

Hollywood and vine is where they have the plahouse disney breakfast, right? Pizza planet is cool for the kids b/c of the Toy Story theme. I didn't like mama Melrose, the Brown derby is ok(we got fantasmic packages w/ both of those restaurants). for quick service I like the backlot express, I didn't like ABC commissary. I haven't eaten at the sci-fi drive in.
Dining Animal Kingdom casual dining Yak & Yeti™ Restaurant (one of the families new favorites) the outdoor bar near the Tusker House Restaurant is awesome. drinking smoking section and its on the parade route.also a quick counter service that slips my mind
yes but i have never eaten breakfast there. moma melrose is not that tastey and brown derby is up there in price. sci fi is cool sitting in the car with the time restrictions for park hours i not a big sit down eater in studios or animal kingdom
Just started planning a trip in August for the family. I have never been to disney. It will be my kids first trip as well (they are 5). So I have a bunch of questions. I was thinking for the first trip 4 days would be long enough. Is it? Should I use a travel agent or book through disney? What hotel is best located for the castle? Does location of the hotel really matter? Any hotels to avoid? What about the meal plan? How do you make reservations for dinner in advance? Any hints on how to navigate the lines for rides? Thanks in advance for your help!
first of all, you did the right thing by planning the trip in August. The weather is absolutely beautiful then!!!! Temps usually max out in the low 70s and there is usually a really nice breeze blowing through the entire park. You wont even need to drink water til you get back to your hotel room

4 days is never enough, it's hard enough to cram everything in 2 weeks. I would suggest at least a week. I would check a travel agent and compare, see which will get you the better deal. All the disney on-site hotels are good, some are better tha others but they have rooms for all price ranges. We used the meal plan once, we aren't overeaters so we left alot of the meal tickets on the card but it still winds up saving you money. there is a dining # on the dinseyworld.com website. I think it's 407-wdw-dine Utilize fastpass for lines. :smile: it's hot but the crowds are less(especially towards the end of august as Florida kids go back to school). You really need 2 weeks in August though as you should be going to the parks later in the day to avoid the heat. If you are cramming in a few days August isn't the time to go.
