First,...I hate when posters say "let's sign ...so and so" (usually a big name that's over the hill). IMO, this player deserves another chance and some team is going to pick him up very quickly. Marko Mitchell was just released by the Redskins. Most average Jet fans don't know Mitchell, he was drafted by the Redskins in round 7 last year. Our draftniks on this site know Mitchell...I 'd give him an opportunity to make the team. A Tall (6'4") WR with good speed and has a knack to fight for the ball. Needs help running routes, but could develop into our 4th receiver and may see some PT with Holmes 4 game suspension. Not a finished product and development player...but has a terrific upside. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...tchell-two-running-backs-among-redskins-cuts/
How does he feel about wearing headphones within the confines of an aircraft as its on final approach?
I had him as a sleeper last year..that said why would the Redskins just release him unless they are stacked at the WR position
It looks like he's still asleep. The Redskins just signed a boatload of has been/also-ran wide receivers like Joey Galloway, Bobby Wade, and Roydell Williams. He might just be another Clowney who flashes a lot in the pre season and then doesn't do much of anything. -X-
Almost identical in size...6'4" 215 area. Mitchell is faster and more athletic. Mitchell has a larger body of work at Nevada...around 2800 yards 22 Tds vs Hnry 1500 yards and 15 TDs. Mitchell's ceiling is way higher.
I think when it comes down to it, they just had to focus on the development of Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly and didn't have the space to carry a guy that's still so raw. Galloway is just about done, but he can still be a serviceable #4 receiver. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in, but only if they think that he has a legitimate shot at making the roster. I'm not sure if he'd even be able to beat out Britt Davis/Marcus Henry, much less the Clown.
I believe in competition and Mitchell wouldn't cost anything to bring in and have him compete. I haven't seen enough positives from Henry to see him make the team. I do like Britt Davis' potential. As far as Clowney.....get's way too much love from Jet fans...I'd move on.
Forget it...it hasn't happened and never will. Smith deserves to be on the team for KR, special teams and gadget plays.....that's it.
You don't even know Mitchell. What has Clowney accomplished??? Zero, except the greatest player in Jet's history in August.
It hasn't happened because he's had countless QB's throwing to him. I think given the proper time to develop chemistry he could be a threat. He's a gamer I have faith that he can be "that" guy this year.
Dream on my friend. It's amazing how many Jet fans get wet in the pants over Clowney. Clowney has a very limited upside.
+1...that's what I said......I want Smith on the Jets. Smith is not a WR that will develop, as the poster alluded to, he's shown all he has at WR...not much.
