Just like K-Dub, nobody wanted him... Conner's too slow to play running back and he's too short to play linebacker. The guy is destined to play fullback. He walked-on at Kentucky and ended up a team captain. I'm sure this kid plays with a chip on his shoulder too. We just drafted two players that WANTED it more than anyone else out there. They had to prove themselves and I respect that hell out of them for that. This game is still so new to Vlad the Impaler - imagine if he played his entire life. Everybody in the country wanted Joe McKnight on their team - he's just got God given talent.
Conner is definitely going to kick the running game up a notch. Conner helping to open holes for McKnight= droooool.
Odd. He started playing at roughly the same age as Gholston.Vlad, playing one position gets accredited for being raw. VG gets bashed mercilessly... Except Gholston went from LB, to RB. Back to LB/ DE, to LB (pro) now back to DE...
Except Ducasse is a good football player while Gholston is an overpaid piece of crap body builder masquerading as a football player.
Ducasse, by an reasonable estimation is far more experienced at his position, than Gladys is. It's a fair argument that Gholston's immense physical talents allowed him to succeed at the college level without a requisite understanding of the position. My only point was the difference in attitude given two players with the same overall level of previous play. That's a fair observation.
Does anyone know the game or have the clip that Rex was referencing when he said he was watching footage of a linebacker, and the guy got lit up by Conner, so he started jocking the Terminator?
I've never heard Rex say what Linebacker he was scouting when he saw Conner, but I'd imagine it was an SEC LB. Hopefully it was Brandon Spikes, because Rex will be seeing that scene play out over and over again for the foreseeable future.
It has to be Eric Norwood. Look at the video I posted that BK quotes a few posts above. Conner completely destroyed Norwood all game long - I remember being so pissed because he was completely invisible against Kentucky.
As much as I love the Kyle Wilson selection, drafting Conner may be the highlight of our 2010 draft, considering he was available in Rd 5. Everything about Conner screams ...total professional. Conner works hard, is intelligent and is mature beyond his years. Walk-on that proved he could make the team at UK. Listening to Conner in an interview I was extremely impressed. Rich Brooks even commented that of all his current players John Conner was going to the most successsful NFL player. Way to go Rex you picked a gem.
