Hopefully we trade up for Heyward and then trade up again and get Von Miller. I'd be more than happy giving up everything for these 2 guys. Miller may have a chance to fall to 32  but Heyward won't even get out of top 20 and I'm willing to bet on that. If we could somehow come down with either one of them though I'd be ecstatic.
South Carolina's Cliff Matthews Texas' Sam Acho If Fresno State's Chris Carter puts on about 15 to 20 pounds, I think he'll be a heck of a 3-4 OLB prospect. He's had a lot of success at LB and DE at Fresno.
This man is my preseason top rated 34 OLB: Akeem Ayers, soon to be RS Jr for the UCLA Bruins. 6'4 254, 75 tackles, 14.5 for loss, and 6 sacks last season to go with 4 picks and 2 defensive TDs. He's a tremendous athlete, great closing speed, and a nose for the ball, and has experience playing both end and LB. Von is a better pure passrusher, but Akeem has more rounded LB skills.
I like him a lot too. UCLA safety Rahim Moore is a hell of a prospect as well. He should battle DeAndre McDaniel and Deunta Williams for the top safety spot in 2011. I'm gonna go ahead and announce my Ryan Mathews' type prospect right now: South Carolina defensive back, Chris Culliver, will be the player that I become borderline obsessed with in 2010. Culliver has track speed, great height, and he loves to hit. The coaching staff moved him to corner after time spent at receiver and safety. He's a hell of a kick returner too. I think he'll have a big season at corner a lot like Dunta Robinson did when he switched from safety to corner.
So I guess that's Culliver in you avatar, E? Those Ayers interceptions on YouTube are just insane. Ridiculous athleticism.
No, that's Stephon Gilmore. He's a rising true sophomore. When he becomes draft eligible, I will talk about him as much as possible. He's got a chance to be the best corner to ever play at South Carolina - over guys like Dunta Robinson and Jonathan Joseph, who are very good NFL corners. Gilmore's also the teams Wildcat quarterback.
I know right, how badass is that? If Von Miller didn't have the slightly less awesome Bryan Cox neck pad, Ayers may be even further ahead.
Went to school with him in HS or College? Curious where you went to school because I am also a friend of Will's and even though i went to a different school I saw most of his games. He was a beast in HS when i saw him at Saint Peters Prep.
Ok, I know I'm about to be a homer right now, but I'm excited about next years draft. I'm excited for some OSU football, and I gotta think OSU is going to produce far more players in next years draft. I felt a little embarrased in this years draft, only four buckeyes taken, and all on day 3? So.. I'm just really excited for a frew OSU players this season, I think there could be 2-3 players from OSU going in the first round next year. We'll see. Two names to keep an eye on. 1> Cam Heyward, DE, OSU 2> Ross Homan, LB, OSU I hope Chimdi Chekwa can return to the potential he is capable of, I thought he could've been a top 20 pick in 2011, he was outstanding last year during the first half of the season, then he just looked awful during the last half of the season. He had a rapid dropoff in his game, I hope he can get back to his true form.
Aside from the Ohio State love... I'm really digging... Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina - Their defense is going to be stupid good this year. Rahim Moore, S, UCLA - He really has a knack for the football. Ballhawk. I think he had 12 INT? as a sophmore alone, I might be a little off on that, but I'm to lazy to look it up.
I know nothing about next seasons draft class, but I will say that i hope the Jets are drafting so low that the top players are unlikely to fall to them.....
Some Buckeyes other than Heyward that can make a name for themselves in 2010. Devier Posey, WR.......I really think this is going to be a break out year and can make Posey a possible Rd1/2 WR. Michael Brewster, C........could be the next great Center from OSU....only a junior, but is a smart , instinctive player. I doubt he declares. Watch out in 2012...will be the best Center prospect...Rd 1. Justin Boren, OG......Michigan transfer....has played very well, could be a top 3 OG next year. Brandon Saine, RB,...not flashy, steady solid player. Rd 2/3.....in 2010. Brian Rolle, ILB.......always making plays, only 5'11', could be a Rd 2/3 selection. Chimdi Chekwa, CB......as you said, big dropoff, ...I'm expecting a good year. Rd 2.
Allen Bailey is pretty awesome, he'd be a really solid pick. He'll probably go higher than our pick (assuming we're picking late) though.
Kid's certainly got the potential, just has to go about showing it on a consistent basis. There's no excuse for him to be anything but the best player on that defense.
