Go back and listen to the press conference after they picked up Ducasse. On Alan Faneca rumors: "He's on our team. He's done great things for us." He had to say it twice. I was cracking up when I heard that thinking "yup he's gone." I think Tanny's the man but with those lying skills he has ZERO future in Congress
That reminded me of another good moment... They asked him "was the decline in production the reason for parting ways with Faneca?" ..he was like Alan's done great things for this organization, he's a great man.. i.e. Yeah he was a liability and we ain't paying this MFer But back to Adalius, we can't listen to Tanny right now. He can't tip his hand to the Dolphins or other suitors.
I can't see Tanny not offering him a incentive base contract with the Dolphins considering him. If he signs with Miami, it just adds to the competition we'll face this year. I think we get Thomas on the cheap because the Pats will still have to pay him this year and I'm sure he wants to play the Pats twice a year as a form of revenge. Now he can attain the revenge factor through the Dolphins or Jets but the one difference is with us, he will be playing for a SB contender. The only thing I see as a potential problem is playing time. Is he ready to admit hes in decline by taking a back up/rotational role or does he still think he is a star?
That depends on which AT they're getting. Is he the one who had 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks in his first 2 games against us with the Pats, or is he the one who has had 8 Tackles and 1 Sack in the 4 games since?
Good point. I think he will be extra motivated this year to prove people wrong that he can still play the game at a high level. Kind of like what Tomlinson is going through, but to a lesser extent. It also depends how he would be utilized in Miamis scheme. We seen how he didn't adjust well to the Patriots scheme overall during the course of his 3 years in NE. Which is another reason why I think he will sign with us because he probably wants to play in a scheme where he dominated in previously and would feel more comfortable without having to learn another playbook. Even though he also played under Nolan, his best years were under Rex. To answer your question as of right now, there are too many variables of which AT we would face. Health is also a big issue.
Yep, but it's all of those variables that have me rather unconcerned with where he goes. If he comes here, great. Rex should be able to utilize him properly. If he goes to Miami, I don't think it's as big of a deal as others might.
Very true good points as usual. I'm on the same page. I just like the fact he could be another low risk, potential weapon at Ryans disposal. Especially with the draft being over, our resources for adding more talent will be limited from here on out. If Tanny and Ryan thinks he can help us, they will go after him. Tanny has his poker face on right now so let's see what happens.
Q. Do players have their own doctors, and if they do, does the team get a second opinion? As has already been discussed, for a player like Leon to get a break like this will most likely hinder his game. I really hope thats not true, always loved Leon.
The team would likely decide with their doctor. He's there to look after the players but he'll decide more in the teams' interest as to wether or not it would be a good idea for this multi-million dollar valued player to start running and taking hits.
They can get a 2nd opinion. But this injury was so severe, he's not going to bounce back in September like it never happened. He had to have emergency surgery right after it happened, and then stayed on the west coast for a few days. I don't get how that happens and you come back like it never did. its impossible.
Yeah dude. Then they have like 6 games until they have to activate or IR him? I was saying I doubt he will be able to make the active roster.
anyone else as surprised as I am that AT is not a Jet yet? I really thought this would happen by today/ Thurday at the latest-----could they be looking at someone else ( Henderson ) also??? Or maybe something else is going on behind the scenes,,,,I just think it's a no brainer to bring AT here as he would probably come cheap and he gives depth and knows the system----------I still feel it's going to happen
A guy walks into a diner and orders a bowl of chicken soup. The waitress places the order and the guy next to him says, "Hey, none of my business, but you ought to try their pea soup. It's really great. Best in the county." So the guy changes his mind and tells the waitress he wants the pea soup instead of the chicken soup and the waitress can be heard thoughout the diner yelling into the kitchen: "HARRY, HOLD THE CHICKEN AND MAKE IT PEA!"
I think the jets are reluctant to make this move. Maybe they're waiting for the price to come down but maybe they have looked at the film already and decided he is clearly on the decline because of age. I don't know if he still has it honestly. he looked like a shadow of the dominant and versatile played he used to be. lately you wouldnt even realize he was on the field. whether that's how he was being utilized or whether he's just lost it is hard to gauge. he's going to be 33 by the time the season starts. i think we may make a move for him for depth purposes if the price is right, but otherwise i'm not sure we're that interested
The difference between the 2 is that one has been an elite pass rusher and the other was only successful in a system as a role player. I don't necessarily think that Adalius Thomas is washed up. I just don't think he was all that great to begin with.
