Conner looks like a tiny guard running around there.

..and he hits like a old school middle linebacker. Love the pop on his blocks. To think about our line opening a hole, Conner chunching a linebacker, and Greene running over a safety. Defenses are not going to like the second half much once we have a lead.

I am extremely excited about this kid playing fullback for us. The more I see tape on this kid the more I dont care about losing leon. This guy kind of reminds me of another player on the ravens though, Leron Mcclain.

Although drafted for a FB McClain saw some time at rb and I was wondering if Conner would do the same. Conner and McClain both ran the same 40 times so speed shouldn't be a concern. As of right now we don't really have a bruiser to play in the 4th qtr since shonn is starting and I am wondering if maybe Rex plans on giving the terminator some burn.

I actually like this comparison after looking over McClain's college stats. He rarely carried the ball at Alabama. McClain was a much more proven receiver though.

If Conner keeps getting faster and stronger, I can definitely see him developing into a dangerous short yardage back. He was very successful in that role at Kentucky.

Definitely an interesting thought. Neither player was given many carries in college.

guess what jet fans.parcells wanted this guy badly.I am sure that he is greatly disappointed that the jets grabbed him first.

If you look back to 07, LeRon McClain was taken in the 4th round. Conner could be that guy in a few years.

From ESPN's draft profiles, look at Conner's combine numbers. He was tops in every major category other than the broad jump. With his short tree trunk legs I'm not surprised he couldn't pull that one off, though not that he was too far away.

    40-Yard Dash
    o 4.74
o Worst: 4.87 Best FB: John Conner 4.74
    *
    3-Cone Drill
    o 7.15
o Worst: 7.44 Best FB: John Conner 7.15
    *
    20-Yard Shuttle
    o 4.32
o Worst: 4.69 Best FB: John Conner 4.32

    *
    Bench Press
    o 24.0
o Worst: 2.0 Best FB: John Conner 24.0
    *
    Vertical Jump
    o 35.0
o Worst: 32.0 Best FB: John Conner 35.0
    *
    Broad Jump
    o 111.0
o Worst: 105.0 Best FB: Rashawn Jackson 117.0

So this guy isn't just the best player at his position, he is also the most athletic? Hell yeah! I just love this pick more and more as time goes on, and we obtain more information about Conner. Great pick, the guy is going to be a stud for us for a really long time.

How does that compare to actual running backs? I don't know much about combine numbers.

Am I reading that right that one guy only put up 2 reps on the bench press? Is this list exclusive to FB's or does it include kickers/punters as well?

Has to be just fullbacks, because FB wouldnt be grouped with kickers, logically if they are grouped it would be with HB. and there is no way Conner is faster than all the HB in the draft...

Either way Conner is beastly and I am pretty excited about him entering the fold!

I was wondering if it was all, only because they quantify it in bold brackets as "FASTEST FB."

Just having trouble imagining that there's one FB, who was invited to the combine, that only put up 2 presses @ 225 lbs.

That struck me as odd as well? Maybe the guy tried to lift injured? Or injured himself while lifting? Or maybe the guy just isn't weight room savy? Didnt Cody only lift like 8 times or something like that? Some guys just arent weight room savvy.

My guess though is the guy who lifted 2 times probably isnt trying out for a team right now....

Holy crap, Cody, at 400 lbs, 8 times? I give that guy 3 years at most before he's out of the league. 400 lb guy with mantits and no strength isn't going to last in the NFL.

Here's how Conner Matches up with some of the more productive members of the 2007 FB Class, Le'Ron McClain and Jason Snelling. McClain had a lot of success carrying the ball for Baltimore 2008, but his numbers dropped last year with the emergence of Ray Rice as the team's workhorse runner. Snelling's carries have been far more sparse, never touching the ball more than 7 times. However, following week 10 of this past season, Snelling only had one game with fewer than 10 carries.

Stats are listed Conner, Le'Ron McClain, Jason Snelling
    Code:

    40-yard Dash: 4.74 4.85 4.79
    3-Cone Drill: 7.15 7.14 7.06
    Shuttle: 4.32 4.47 4.38
    Bench Press: 24 14 N/A
    Vertical Jump: 35.0 29.5 30.0
    Broad Jump: 9'3" 9'5" 9'3"
    20 Yard: 2.60 2.80 2.73
    10 Yard: 1.56 1.66 1.62

Thanks for posting this and although we need to beware the combine numbers most of the time (Ghost) the fact Conner has better combine numbers than those two is very good.

The most exciting part is he looks great on tape and we know looks like a player but these numbers just show where he is at athletically.

I can't wait to see this guy in action, obviously it will be mostly special teams this year but I bet he knocks guys out!!
