I wouldn't cut Bryan Thomas to bring in Adalius. As ineffective a pass rusher as Bryan Thomas is, he's a superior run defender and a guy who is reliable and healthy. There are significant cap savings to cutting Thomas this year, to the tune of over 3m, but you're not likely to get better every down production from Adalius, who is depth at this point in his career. -X-
^FTW The Jets are like $20 mil under the cap or something. I read it in an article over the weekend. What the hell are we gonna do for roster space? all the new guys, tons of veterans. This is crazy. The roster needs to be expanded. I don't understand why the PS can't be 15 or 20 guys...
well if there was any truth to the BRYAN THOMAS being released rumors--we will know soon enough as soon as ADELIUS is signed
There's no chance that Woody is just going to spend as much as he can because there's no cap. PSLs aren't selling, and they have to cut costs somehow.
"He told Boston radio station 98.5 The Sports Hub in February that he wasn't sure whether he would be released by said he wanted to play "somewhere where I'm wanted and where I'm going to have fun. That's where I want to be." Hmmmmmm, now I wonder if there's a place that fits that description?.........
GREAT POINT... Rex might have shot that down in order to keep the tampering charges in check in case anyone tried to link that to Adalius Thomas coming over.
They're not just going to spend the money they saved right away. That's not why they're saving the money in the first place.
Adalius will get what he is owed from New England, NY can sign him for league minimum if he really wants to play here.
I consider myself pretty astute when it comes to the NFL - Especially when it comes to the kids posting on message boards like this one. BUT, I'll be damned if I could tell you in Rex's system who would be better Bryan Thomas or Adalius Thomas.... If Rex makes that move I bow down to the master and enjoy the probable money saved.
I'd sign Thomas for depth purposes just to have another leader and experienced, grizzled pass rusher to go along with Taylor. You can never have enough depth and experience. He isn't as athletic as he use to be but I'm sure Rex can disguise his defense even more with him on obvious passing downs. He'd be a good pick up based on what he would do here and insurance in case any of our OLBs go down.
