I'm not going to argue w/our first 3 picks at all --- but John Conner????? C'mon.

Be reasonable with your picks here.

    Mine is going to be Reshad Jones - Georgia - S ----- 6-1 215.
Good tackler & at 4.5 speed, he could cover the deep middle.
32nd pick of the 5th round. He'll be a very capable starter in this league.

Don't suppose you read any of the John Conner threads detailing the awesomeness of the terminator? Or the fact he is the best FB in the draft? Also he is the premier ST demon in this draft something we dearly needed.

Pretty sure everybody who has gotten a chance to know JC is starting to come around to the genious of the pick.

You can debate whether he was worth Leon or not, but you can't hold that against Conner, just agains the FO.

    Conner was a Rex/Westoff pick.

Conner isn't going to be playmaker, he's going to be the force that enables others (McKnight, Greene) to make plays.

Well just to contribute to the thread, I'm gonna say Cam Thomas...some considered him a borderline first rounder.

^but that doesn't mean I don't like the John Conner pick... after some research, I've come to like it.

I love the Conner pick, and I'll go so far as to say if he lives up to his game tape he could be a fan favorite for a long time.
Drafting a fullback isn't sexy. Never will be. But with T. Rich set to retire (at some point) it's far from controversial.
Could've been worse - "With the 47th selection in the 2005 NFL draft, the New York Jets select Mike Nugent, kicker..."

Those who liked Cam Thomas so much, myself included. I thought he was a sure fire second rounder, but it would seem not.

Jones or Cam Thomas would have been nice. However, Connor will most likely end up starting by year two, where as most 5th round picks typically don't have that type of impact.

I've always liked the philosophy of drafting less important positions as you get later in the draft. Fullback is far from sexy, but it's the only non-kicker position we could have picked in the 5th where we can actually say we got the best player at his position.

If anyone is familiar with Mack Strong, I'm going on record to say that Conner is going to be better than him.

Oh I see what you're saying. Yeah, I guess you're right, most of the mock drafts I saw with him were on this site

Bold prediction, but I'll be ecstatic if it's true.

    *Salivates*

Let's hope his career follows a similar path as far as length of tenure and number of teams played for, too.

I can hear the Terminator music now, Every time he scores-

You know that, bump bump bump bump, music- Then they can play, I'll be back, meaning he'll score again.

    Get it??

Obviously, Rex is happy with our D-line...Ellis (last year), Jenkins (returning), Pitoitua, DeVito, Pouha and Rod Wright...who may surprise.

I've stated many times that Rex puts more emphasis on the back 7 than the D-line. We need our D-line to hold the fort for the back seven to make plays.

I wanted Cam Thomas at the end of round 2 or 4, but that was before I knew of the releasing of Faneca and the trading of Washington.

This will be Shaun Ellis' last year as a Jet, solid career, unrestricted FA after 2010.

The Jets can address DE in Round One in 2011...at least 4/5 excellent 3-4 DE prospects could be available.
