The places we have age seem to be in the perfect spot to help develop our younger players, and in a year or maybe two the younger guys will be ready to step in and take the place of the elder statesman. How can you not love what Tanny is doing with this squad?
...but, but, but he traded Leon and cut Faneca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...and he signed Jason Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Raymond excites me a bit, seemed like a great NT in college and has great size (6'4 320lbs) but needs coaching and control of his weight, use to be 348lbs And look E he's not white!
Depends on how you class a slap fight. This is all good stuff, good analysis. This secondary seems young and hungry. Can't wait to see the blitz packages that get dialed up as a result of these moves.
That will be a hell of a battle for the backup NT role. Both did one hell of a job in college but Mick played against better competition IMO but Raymond has ideal size and is a maller at NT, im tellin you if coached up well he can be an excellent 3-4 NT and a beast in the 4-3 DT position.
I think Mick Williams might have a shot as a defensive end too. I know he's not tall, but he knows how to take up blockers and he knows how to get into the backfield.
Id rather see Mick at 3-4 DE anyway. I liked him at NT but he could do even better IMO next to Jenks at NT and Ellis at opposite DE all three could mashup the line effectively. TJ Raymond could be an excellent fit at backup NT just his size overall and work-ethic (Lost 28lbs in one offseason to better his game) could be great filling in for Jenks when he needs a rest. Would like to know your opinion on Raymond E but not sure if you know of him to well?
My heart break player that we did not sign as a UDFA was Garrett Lindholm from Tarleton State. Was going to make a thread on him but then found out the Falcons signed him to a two year deal right after the draft. Heres some info on him and a vid ( Maybe he gets released so we can pick him up :up From Walterfootball: 4/2/10: Raider fans are lucky that Sebastian Janikowski is on the team; otherwise, Al Davis would consider Garrett Lindholm in the first round. Lindholm, who hit a 64-yard field goal in 2009, drilled 3-of-4 attempts from 60-plus at his Pro Day. Wow. Great Stats at Tarleton State as well:
Why would a kid with a leg like that only be playing at some DIII school? Seems like DI material with those numbers.
All I really know about him is that he began his career at North Texas and that he graduated high school in 2003, so he's a lot older than most draft prospects. He's about 25 or 26 years old. Raymond's definitely got the size to play NT. ...it looks like we may have a very poor man's Mount Cody.
I wish.... the Jets would have taken a chance on Tony Washington.... he has a lot more potential than any of our OTs, we have murderers still playing in the NFL, dont know why nobody is giving this kid a chance.... i guarantee he could be a great player...
There is a chance at both staying on. Last year's lineup: Douglas Jenkins Ellis Pouha DeVito Pitoitua Green Douglas and Green are gone so there could be two spots open. It'll depend on how many DLine Rex wants to keep. Green made the original roster, got the ax, then got resigned after Jenkins ACL tear.
I hope to god that you didn't join TGG to defend a guy that had an incestuous relationship with his little sister.
I'm...willing to look past it if he can be a franchise left tackle for 3 million a year for the next 10 years.
He's a story on it... http://www.sportsfanlive.com/sflreports/entry/sportsfanlive_com_exclusive_lineman_s
