Sure he's our 2nd TE but he's a strictly blocking TE... and from what I read Conner has hands of stone (and is 5'11").

If Keller gets hurt during a game and we only have Harstock to back him up that means no more passes to the TE...

Where did you read that about Conner? I've got some pretty good sources on SEC boards and they think he can be a fairly good receiver out of the backfield.

He also has experience as a second tight end. If the team needs an extra blocker, I think Conner will come in as an offset tight end.

In every scouting report I've read they say he has bad hands...

NFL.com: "Does not have good hands, runs imprecise routes and lacks the ability to be a consistent check-down option in the passing game."

Jetsblog: "His hands are unreliable and he has difficulty running routes."

But I guess I have been unlucky because while looking for these quotes I've read analysis from sites such as nfldraftscout.com where they say he has soft hands and adjusts to the ball well.

I guess we'll just have to make an opinion by ourselves this TC.

I read that Conner has pretty good hands and was sometimes used in 2 TE sets in college.

This is mostly what I have heard, but he was never utilized much as a receiver. His season high for receptions is 11.

The more I think about it, the more I can't believe they were able to get a guy like Warren as a UDFA.

Does anyone else really like the idea of having a LB named "Reamer"? Anyone? No?

Now I really cant wait for HBO's Hard Knocks. The New York Jets have invited WR Joel Rivera for a tryout at mini camp. Rivera played at D-III William Paterson University, my alma mater, in northern New Jersey.

When Morgan Newton became their quarterback, Kentucky spent a ton of time in the shotgun and in the Wildcat. They focused on getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers...guys like Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke.

Before Newton though, when Mike Hartline was their QB, the Wildcats ran a more traditional offense.

People can't find any video on this kid, right? Well, I started searching for videos of their more exciting playmakers and I came across this Locke TD run against Carolina.

John Conner knocks Eric Norwood on his ass and Locke runs in for the score:

I also just found a clip of John Conner taking out two Georgia players that led to a TD run (starts @ 33 seconds) and (@ 1:26) Conner opens a hole on a goalline TD:

Per Manish Mehta, NJ Star-Ledger, add to the list:
WR Joel Rivera, William Paterson (workout invitation; no contract)

His wiki says that he's the younger brother of Donte Whitner. Is that even genetically possible?

I saw that on NEPatriotsdraft but then I saw that they pulled it later. I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere else. Although Ciron Black was pulled from the list but then turned out to be true.
Step-brothers? One took his mother's name?

Nice find on the vids for Conner E.

Now thats some lead blocking. This team is really gettign good young depth mixed in with good young vets. I'm loving the job by the Staff this offseason.

    Thanks man.

I'm really excited about the veteran leadership in our backfield. Greene and McKnight have a chance to learn from surefire Hall of Famer in Tomlinson, while Conner gets a year behind one of the best fullbacks of all time.
