Have you ever in your life added anything of value to this MB? All I can remember you ever doing is bitching about other posters, and it's annoying as hell. Talk football or don't post. If you feel the need to complain, PM a mod or use the "report" feature instead of posting. The next time I see a post like this from you I'm considering it trolling.
People still don't get it. By cutting Faneca, we're saving $1.68 million in money against the cap when we cut Faneca next year. Cutting Faneca was not about this year. It's about creating room to sign guys next year. By cutting him this year, we have $8.84 million extra to sign players instead of $7.16 million. Faneca was going to get cut next year anyhow.
Some valid points in the original hypothesis, but SOJ died with Herm and Bradway. Rex has already said"We have no excuses not to go all the way". I don't love Cutting Faneca and getting nothing for Leon, but Tanny has run a top notch organization. Gholston and Lito are the only mistakes so far.
Hate to break it to you guys but the Faneca decision was not business one. The feeling in the Jets hierarchy was that Faneca declined every year he was here and that basically he was toast. I know that is difficult to hear but that is what the Jets thought. I heard 2 beat reporters for the Jets say this. Jane McManus and Tim Graham. To surmise the Jets thought Faneca was done.......... EOS.......
This too. Faneca was our worst lineman last year. We now have an extra 8.84 million to sign players next year (1.68 savings if we were to cut Faneca next year). Cut our worst player and get an extra 8.84 million for next year.... what's not to like?
I hated getting rid of faneca and leon for only a 5th but i don't think its the "SAME OLD JETS" thats bullshit but the moves are a bit questionable especially Faneca, Who will start in place of him. Slauson or the Rookie.
Screw beat reporters, I've been saying this shit for the longest! Omg! U don't know what EoS means? WtfiWWU? HtfdUNKT!?
Hello Jets fans. I come in peace As you can tell from my screen name, I'm a Dolfan. I post over at FinHeaven, but I've decided to take a trip to the dark side.... First off, why did Faneca get released? Were there injury concerns? And why trade Leon Johnson? He scared me every time he touched the ball. Don't be so hard on yourselves. The Jets are still a tough team. Your draft picks were mostly about depth. I love the Kyle Wilson pick as well as the FB, Joe McKnight. He should help your team out a lot in the trenches.
This is pretty ridiculous. I'm all for cutting Faneca and pluggin in new blood at G. It was obvious that Faneca was declining in pass protection from one year to the next. He's a beast in running plays, but that's not enough to pay him 7.5M this year where chances are, he would've given up 7+ sacks in pass plays. In my opinion, Faneca earned his monies when he taught Brick and Mangold everything he knows. Now they can pass their knowledge on to the rookie or Slauson. If either of those guys work out at G, the left side of the OL will be set for the next 10 years. Our running game will drag somewhat early in the season, but as the line begins to gel, I expect them to get better late in the season when it matters most. In Callahan I trust.
Faneca was rated the worse Jets OLineman last year, gave up 6 sacks, the most on the team. They drafted a OG to replace him and that position is the easiest to develop on the OL. Leon Washington broke 2 bones in his leg last year so you don't know how effective he will be. Since they had no intention of re-signing him after this year they got something for him. Running backs in the NFL are a dime a dozen.
