So our backfield is quite solidified for the future now. We should take another RB to replace LT either in the 2011 or 2012 drafts, I would think, but they have plenty of flexibility. Parts of our offense that are solidified for several years: QB - Sanchez RB - Greene, McKnight (LT for 2) FB - Conner TE - Keller O-Line - 3/5; D'Brick, Ducasse, Mangold This is a very, very strong foundation IMO. We'll lock up the better of Braylon/Santonio, keep Cotch, and draft a slot guy [probably in 2012]. Our offense is young and talented, and I really like the direction they are going.
Well, the McKnight pick looks better now, since he has value on ST as well. McKnight and Wilson will share return duties, Smith can return to his high value spot as our lead blocker, and McKnight will take over Leon's carries. As far as the Conner pick, we're still going to be carrying 5 backs on the roster. There's no way Conner gets dropped to the practice squad. He'll likely be a permanent inactive unless something happens to Richardson (yeah right) during the season, and then he'll step in next season. I sure hope we get some good value with our UDFAs. I thought for sure we'd come away with AT LEAST a DL, OLB, or S. We didn't get a single one of the 3.
Yeah, and he gained a few more. Leon Washington was probably close with all of the guys from that 2006 class. Oh well. This is a business.
I'm almost certain that John Conner will be an active player in most games. He's got immediate value as a special teams tackler. Conner shouldn't be looked at as a fullback just yet. He'll be used much more like a linebacker.
I'll obviously take your word for it. I know little to nothing about the guy. I wasn't even looking at FBs really. Still, if he does contribute on ST, that's a big need this offseason.
we won't trade a top LT because he is upset we tossed a few of his buddies to the side. Too be honest, he should be upset that we moved his teamates. But Brick will get over it, just like every other player will when they see how well the guys they brought in perform.
I was only being half serious but if you go all the way back to Kendell everybody that has had anything to say about the team, their contract or management is no longer here.
...back to Pittsburgh. Jesus christ, the Ravens are having a hell of a draft. Arthur Jones in the fifth.
