That's the worst fucking comparison I can possibly think of. MoClar and Williams were horribly unmotivated players. Rolle is a dedicated worker who just took the greatest opportunity for his post NFL career he could ever have.
so top ST player, coupled with nearly consensus best FB in the draft? can't complain there, this was very likely to be T-rich's last year before retiring, so grabbing this kid seems like a great move. Could this season look like a throw back from Richie Anderson's last season with Jerald Sowell right there as a top ST ace? I think we will see similar stuff this year with both guys there.
The picks are starting to feel a lot better. I just wanted to get someone that could kill QBs. I blame LW for fucking up our draft.
I'd say Tanny loses the draft, since he didn't address our two biggest needs, cut a solid LG in an uncapped year to replace him with a raw rookie that every site needs development before he can step in and play, basically gave away the '08 team MVP, then drafted a backup FB that was supposed to go much later with the pick he got for him.
Wilson's one of the best punt returners I've ever seen. I'm talking about kickoff and punt coverage here though. We lost a great gunner in Wallace Wright and Jason Trusnik was a solid special teamer as well. Trusnik getting traded was hilarious though because we ended up with a very good receiver for a slot guy and a special teams player.
ok so the pick makes more sense (want to shore up ST weakest unit on team last year)...still would have taken Cam Thomas tho
That's wrong. http://espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=181058 In 2009, Conner had 31 carries for 158 yards and 2 TDs (5.1 AVG). He averaged about 2 to 3 carries a game in 2009. I wouldn't count on him to be much of a runner or a receiver at the next level. Conner's value is in lead blocking and on special teams. Kentucky's a team that doesn't use a fullback that much - they ran a ton of Wildcat plays with Locke and Cobb. I think this is a valuable pick up.
