mike t is a quality over quantity kinda guy...if the staff has a strong conviction about a player you kno they're gonna get him even if it means sacrificing picks (i'm sure the jets could have traded down if they really wanted to considering how much movement there was in this draft)
I second this entirely. I'm shocked Griffen is still around, but I think he's best off going to a 4-3 team if there are other options. Still, his value is phenomenal at this point.
I know a lot of you have already said, but I'm fucking stunned. I'm at work until about 10 tonight, and just kept hitting the refresh button on my mobile internet and was shaking my head at the names not getting called. I'm am completely flabbergasted at some of the names still in play. I'm not a huge draft head like some of you are, but I watch enough college football that I know at least half the teams in the league are going to get an absolute STEAL in the 4th (FOURTH!) round tomorrow. Maybe someone with more draft knowledge than me can answer this question...when's the last time there was this much talent left going into the 4th round?? The 4th round also usually happens to be a great round for us, so I have a very good feeling about tomorrow.
Bradway just said they have 6 in mind for round four and may look to move around. Tomorrow should be interesting...
On SNY a few minutes ago... actually he said they had 6 in mind that they liked for round 2 as well. Just an interesting perspective on how they manage the war room.
Would not be upset at all if the Tannenbaum traded up in this round to grab Griffen. I didn't like him in the second because of his coverage shortcomings but in the 4th it would be a great choice. The List: Cam Thomas Everson Griffen Ricky Sapp Corey Wooton Eric Norwood Freddy Barnes Myron Rolle Jonathan Dwyer LeGarroute Blount Jacoby Ford(Only player in order) Later rounds(No Order): Mardy Gilyard Nate Byham Andre Dixon Lidnsay Witten ZOLTAN!!! Mickey Schuler Jr. Vince Oghobasse Joe McKnight
I really want to get another 4th round pick somehow. The talent left is amazing. Trading up for Griffen would be ideal, and I'm not even a big fan of his. Thought he was a reach at 29, but he would be a sick pick for us in the 4th. Griffen and Reshad Jones would be heavenly.
If we get Sapp or Griffen this round, then we'll have gotten 3 players in this draft that we were talking about getting at 29 overall
NT/DE Al Woods, LSU NT/DE Kade Weston, Georgia SWR/RM Jacoby Ford, Clemson SWR/RM Mardy Gilyard, Cincinnati Or if you really want to do something daring, you can draft stud edge rusher O'Brien Shofield and place him on IR for a year That could be like trading a late 4 this year for a late 1/early 2 caliber edge rusher next year Somebodies gonna do it, mark it down, its just a matter of WHO and WHEN
Many teams could have done it this year with Kindle. He was sinking like a stone till the Ravens gambled. Any draftniks have the skinny on Wootton?
+1. It's far from a need but getting Ford as a Slot WR prospect on the third day could be an amazing pickup. Especially if the Jets can get something for Leon, Clemens or Thomas.
With the guys left on the board I hope we just try to dump Leon for 2 4ths or even an early 4th and a 5th, and push Thomas for a 5th.
We need an extra pick and get Cam Thomas and Ricky Sapp/Eric Norwood/Reshad Jones. That would put us into an elite draft for this year.
OBTW TOP SMALL SCHOOL EDGE RUSHER Arthur Moats, OLB, James Madison WW, I would definitely add him to the list
Big 34DE prospect from Northwestern, played outside his entire career at 280, battled injuries his senior year, but when healthy proved to be a force--preseason All American and first round projection but struggled mightily throughout last year. If he can revert to 2008 form, a hell of a player. Now, because we're cutting Faneca, I'd like to snag another offensive lineman. Specifically, Mitch Petrus out of Arkansas--a guy who's got 35 starts in the SEC under his belt, who might not have the highest upside but could start in a pinch if needed. I'm not so sure on Slauson.
This draft is so stacked. I'm willing to bet we find at least two or three UDFAs that make the final roster.
