It could have something to do with behind the scenes bitching, but that sounds really tame. I think it has everything to do with his diminishing skills.

edit: Well, that, and having this guy on the bench

dont know anything about him. saw some of the highlights they showed... i will have to trust tanny and crew on this one.

i love how so many people say they were waiting for this guy praying he would be there... but they never post about it until after the pick :)

screw +15 i want our own 4th for him... that said if he will 100% not be with the team come Monday morning, then I would much rather see him traded for Mr. irrelevant (yes i realize thats a compensetory pick) than cut him outright

I'm going to be the dick and point out that compensatory picks can't be traded.

I was hoping we would go after a safety... I was hoping we coulda grabbed Taylor Mays but I figured he would already be gone by the time we picked... Its always good to have solid backups on the O Line but I really think we need a safety more than anything... As much as I dislike Kerry Rhodes he is gonna be kinda hard to replace...

absolutely fantastic pick...we have damien woody and alan faneca on this.

And as we have learned first hand...PROTECT THE QUARTERBACK...Sanchez is still a kid and with a great OL it will continue to boost his confidence and game for LT

Exactly. I can see an argument for trading him (and agree for the right value) given the fact that it would be IMPOSSIBLE to keep him on the roster next year with the contracts we have coming up, but cutting him makes absolutely no sense from a fiscal standpoint, let alone a continuity one.

I know it's way too much thread to go through, but there was plenty of discussion about him in the draft thread before the pick as several of us waited and hoped he'd drop.

looks like faneca got cut...So the Jet nation believes he can step in and do damage. I mean guys its possible...Remember we threw Mangold and D'Brick into the fire right away...

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but saw in on SI and thought it was interesting. It says we were ready to take Ducasse at #29!

I'm glad they patiently waited for their guy and didn't trade up to get him. Nice work so far.

Ferguson was definitely a project. He was drafted because he had the potential to develop into an elite left tackle - he became the player that the front office hoped he would.

Vlad Ducasse is an extremely athletic, beastly run blocker that has all the potential in the world. Who the hell gives a damn where he played college football - he was absolutely dominant at UMASS with mediocre coaching and almost no technique. I thought he'd be long gone by our pick.

Bill Callahan supposedly spent a lot of time with him. I'm sure he had a lot to do with this decision.

With great coaching, Ducasse will be a hell of a player. I guarantee that.

Cato, why don't you give it a rest. I'm so damn sick of seeing you on here 24/7. Go to bed...get a life...or do some fucking thing OTHER than opening your big fat mouth every 2 seconds. You've had 1,000 posts in the last week. You're NOT an interesting read. So, for god sake, shut the fuck up already.
