Hehe. I've been on record saying that I expect Slauson to step up this season but if they tried to trade up for Iupati then I'm guessing that is either not the belief of the CS or they valued one of the two players as a tackle.

Then again, Tannenbaum could have been trying to gauge the value of the Jets' picks.

What the...? You want to lose a pick and a member of our line to move up 10 - 15 spots in the 2nd!?!

Solid point. When the pick was made last year, I was hoping Slauson could develop into our future LG as soon as this season. I saw nothing last season to further that belief.

A "few" or a "billion", what's the difference?

I cant see the jets trading up in round 2 - everyone will be trying to get up in round 2 to try and get a bargain so you will end up overpaying. I bet the Rams could get a 1st round pick next year over this years and next years 2nd rounders for that pick tonight.

Of course, there are still 6 draft rounds to go, and the trade-up-for-an-offensive-lineman talk could be some form of a smokescreen, as well. Still kind of hard to say.

I don't know if I'm going nuts or what, but I swear, Slauson never saw the field last year. When Mangold went down it was Turner who replaced him. Can anybody else confirm my memory?

My heart sank when then 49ers took Iupati..the Samoans are too good to pass up in this year's draft though.

It was Slauson. It happened during the Tampa Bay game where Turner was out that week with a knee injury.

Nobody is gonna do us any favors this year so you can pretty much forget about the trade angle.

exactly-- and we have depth if he's kept. remember that one reason our Oline was so dominant last season was health. The inuries struck CB, DT and RB instead of Oline last year-- we will not always be that lucky to keep an Oline intact all season and this gives the rookie a chance to learn/ compete if he's truly that raw and talented. Plus, I trust Callahan's eye for horseflesh and coaching when it comes to selecting and developing Oline.
