Sheer disbelief...then uncontrollable laughing. Then I wondered when Al Davis became the owner of the Jaguars
STU-PID. He was a prospect that could go 32-64 and he gets picked 10th! one of the biggest stretch's ive ever seen! "The Jaguars clearly don't know what the draft is all about"
They pretty much assured themselves that they will not be in Jax much longer b/c the fans are going to give up faith after tonight.
Usually a reach like that is when a team drafts too much by need instead of value....but it makes no sense because Derrick Morgan and JPP were both available and both would have been need and much better value.
I don't see why they couldn't have traded down, but I love Alualu. Taken too high? Of course. But I think he'll show he's worth it over time.
I was watching it with a Jags fan. No one said a word for about two or three minutes. Then I said "If the Jets took him in the 2nd round, I'd have been a little pissed". The (remaining) Jags fans on their MB should not be left alone.
Mayock called it 1 minute before the pick....he was on his blackberry. Fucking Twitter takes away the suspense of the picks.
I don't get it at all. Its also not like there weren't takers for the pick, the next 3 picks saw trades! Somebody had to call about the Jags pick, they could have slid down and still got there guy. This is one of those picks where I wonder if somebody has intercepted the card on the way to the commisioner and replaces it with a joke card. Once the comish reads it, there is no changing it. I still can't believe it. But I am thanking our lucky stars because this pick is likely the one that pushed Wilson into our laps. Don't ask me how things would have worked out if the Jags had taken a guy of value there, but I do know i'm glad they messed up and that the Broncos did the second stupidest thing possible by taking Tebow so high. For the record, I at least think Alualu will be a good player, the Bills reach a few years back for John Mccargo was the worst in recent memory, especially considering they traded a future first to get back into the draft to grab him, it was a complete joke.
Their GM was saying he received no calls. My guess is that the other teams knew he'd make this ridiculously stupid pick, and therefore just left him to make it and allow for a better guy to drop down.
I think he'll be a great 3-tech but the Jaguars had no reason to take him there unless someone else was going to make a terrible reach. Still, I think his play will exonerate them somewhat. Not completely but he should prove himself to be better than a couple of first round picks.
