Holy shit I'm in serious man-love with this guy. I'll get in line. I'll take thirds, fourths, fifths, whatever.

No way brother. I was glued to the tv. Sorry, I was cheating on my TGG friends with my Tweeps.

I despise all people who mention no-hitters while they're alive. I don't give a shit if you're superstitious or not. STFU.

Number two?! Sorry dude. When CC leaves, Phil is the ace. Hell, he might get the Opening Day nod next year if he keeps this up.

I think it's safe to say Vazquez is now the fifth starter, and maybe even Andy is our fourth. How are they going to manage his innings though? You can't skip starts with him at this point.

I'm learning to live with Johnson. He really is on base a whole freaking lot. And Tex is getting there. When Tex starts hitting regularly, holy shit is this team going to score runs.

Runs that will be unnecessary as the pitching completely shuts everyone down.

Well, all that ordering really only matters for the playoffs, which are a looooong time away.

They say Phil is on track for around 180 innings this year. I'm sure they'll adjust it depending on whether they're high stress or low stress innings and such... but whatever the case, they shouldn't have any issues with keeping his innings under control.

I meant at this point and time. He's still a number 2 behind CC, IMO...However if he continues to pitch like he has, he has all the makings of an ace. Filthy curveball, plus fastball with movement, changeup, and now a cutter to boot. I love the way the ball just explodes out of his hand. It appears to get on the hitters much faster than what the radar is showing. It's no wonder this kid is hard to hit...

Right, it's a long time from now, but shouldn't they at least be looking out that far a little bit? Honestly, I love Andy, but based on the current performance, even as good as Andy's been, I want Hughes getting the ball in game 3 of any series.

On top of that, if he hits 180 during the season, won't that leave him empty for the postseason? I don't know what his cap is. They also seem willing to ignore 100 pitches with him. He was yanked at 101 last night, but would have been allowed to keep going if the no-hitter was intact. (Wonder how CC feels about that.) He threw what, 118-120 last outing.

I just don't want to face a situation where he's unavailable in October because he pitched too much in April, you know what I mean?

Absolutely. He's still behind Burnett right now too (though probably not by much.) He's definitely an ace-in-the-making though. It's going to be fun to watch him over his career.

Today is a good day. Half day at work, Yankees play at 3:30 and then the draft at 7. I may just order a pizza and post pictures of it in the Lunch Thread.

Let's not get carried away too quickly with Hughes, its only April.

Nah. Too much can change between now and then, there's no point to it.

But it's been two games, dude. I know what you're saying, but let's just give it a bit of time. I mean, if he gets lit up in his next two starts, does Andy get the Game 3 start back?

I imagine the postseason would be all hands on deck, as usual, but that's a long, long way off. I'd think they'll start to worry about that as they get closer to the end of the season. Fifth starters, such as they are, are usually the ones who get skipped when off days pop up. Hughes will probably only get 28-30 starts on the year. If he's going 7 innings per start, he'll have a lot of innings, but presumably they'll have been easier innings (if he could make it that deep into the game) and so they might bump it up a bit for him. Who knows?

He threw 108 his first outing. Girardi said he was going to let him go to about 115 last night.

Jeter makes an out on the first pitch two games in a row. Why is he swinging at the first pitch of the game?

Great job by Johnson grounding out.

Sterling made Teixeira's fly out sound like it was gone off the bat.

Damnit Sterling! He did the same thing with ARod's fly out.

CC threw less than 100 pitches, pitched the whole game, and lost. They just didn't hit enough yesterday. This series went in the complete opposite direction I thought it would.

Oh, and Braden might want to learn to STFU. Maybe instead of concerning himself with ARod stepping on his precious rubber he should concern himself that he's on a team that will finish last in the weakest AL division.
