Yeah i don't get this -- Greene is the new featured back...LT has to spell him and catch balls out of the backfield and you have leon back there also so LT doesn't need 1400 yards - just solid red zone which he can do and catch 40 balls or more. Cromartie can't do any worse than the carousel we had at the number 2 corner spot last year. Cotchery and Edwards are still here and Holmes replaces who? He is just a great additional piece we never had. Taylor creates a pace rusher opposite Pace that we didn't have and the guy can still play especially when he is a specialist and not required to be DPOY. Poole is a hard hitter and will attack more than Rhodes did. Hell for 12 games last year Rhodes was a bitchy wanna be superstar playing like a scrub. The core talent of this team is the same minus Thomas Jones from last season...aside from that they just replaced the weakest parts and added Holmes as a fun little bonus.
I don't know how you can write this article without comparing the new guys to the old guys. Cromartie vs. Lito, Holmes vs. Smith/Clowney, and LT vs. TJ. You can really argue for TJ, but the other two positions you'd have to say we upgraded. These guys probably wrote what a steal it was when NE got Moss for a 4th. Now we get Holmes for a 5th and we're morons. Moss smoked weed, hit a traffic officer with his car and quit on his team. What's the bigger risk? These guys are writing the easy article instead of actually thinking and analyzing.
I agree! I was thinking the same thing, that article was missing that the deals are all short term which lowers the risk for the jets but that would have d bunked the negative spin the writer was trying to make.
The guy routinely considered the best CB to ever play the game didn't shy away from tackles, he sprinted full speed away.
I don't even bother reading articles like these anymore. Any one of us here knows more about our team than these "analysts", so why bother caring what they think? We'll know by next February whether or not our offseason moves worked.
This article points out why we should love Rex more than we already do. Rex is trying to control a team that can be as volatile as a volcano so we can all have the Lombardi. I've never been so excited for a season! I love you Rexxy!
No i know of those guys. Just saying who looks for corners that's main ability is to lay out hits? It's all about the blanket. yeah that is 100% on. I was bashing Cromartie after the Charger game calling him a dope, and washed up. Then he was traded to us, and of course I support him, because I know what he can do in a better system. He already has shown it, and now he has Rex, and Pettine teaching him. Plus the guys in our locker room. Jets have the best locker room in the NFL. All the ego's are in check, and the only guy who didn't fall in line is gone (Rhodes)
What else was there to get out of that? Just because the best corner to ever play the position could get away with going out of his way to not tackle anybody doesn't mean that you can excuse any other player for it.
If you need your CB to be tackling anyone other than the receiver he's covering, the rest of your defense is breaking down completely. Tackling is the least of my concerns when it comes to a CB. It's nice to have, but not mandatory in any way, in my opinion at least. That was the point I was getting at.
Aye. I would prefer my team's CB's strength to be covering. Like Cato said they were more of 'complete players' of the CB position. Revis Christ will baptize all of Cromartie's children and Antonio himself.
