In light of Peter King's mock that everyone seems to be thrashing, I'm curious to know the boards opinion on where he would rank had he not gotten hurt?

He failed a drug test at the combine, too, but I think it may have been expected due to a medication he was taking.

I thought that was Jonathan Dwyer? I haven't seen anything about Best failing a drug test.

I said top twenty, but this guy was one of the most injury prone players in college football before that awful concussion. He's been hurt every year.

Still, after watching him play numerous times, there's no denying that he's a special player. Hopefully he'll stay healthy in the NFL.

Mr. E, granted a lot will depend on what route the Jets go this year in the draft, how Leon and LeDainian pan out, the collective bargining agreement next year as well as the college 2010 season (granted, a lot of "ifs"), but having said that, your thoughts on Noel Devine of UWV if he was available in next year's draft? Thx.

Noel Devine was destined to play in the NFL. It's about time for that kid to put on a pro uniform, isn't it?

With that said, there's a chance for a lot of good backs to declare for 2011's draft:

    Mark Ingram (Alabama)
    JaQuizz Rodgers (Oregon State)
    Ryan Williams (Virginia Tech)
    Darren Evans (Virginia Tech)
    Brandon Saine (Ohio State)
    Evan Royster (Penn State)
    DeMarco Murray (Oklahoma)
    Vai Taua (Nevada)
    Allen Bradford (USC)
    Daniel Thomas (Kansas State)

These are ten backs that are right there with Noel Devine. I think we'll see Mark Ingram come off the board early. Allen Bradford is definitely a guy to watch out for - Kiffin likes to run the football and Bradford is Southern Cal's #1 option at tailback - he could have a Montario Hardesty type season.

If you look over that list, there's only one other true third down back and that's Quizz Rodgers. It'd going to be interesting to see which back, Devine or Rodgers, goes first. I think both players will be successful in the NFL though.

If Jahvid Best was not injury prone, he'd be the best running back in this draft.

Moot point, of course, because he is. Very.

    Correction:

If Ryan Mathews wasn't injury prone, he'd be the best running back in this draft and he'd more than likely have a Heisman sitting on his mantle.

All three of the drafts top backs are injury prone. RBBC is the way to go with all of them.

    Good call...

    Dion Lewis.

He'll probably be a top fifteen pick.

I want a guy named Quizz on our team. That would be awesome to see on a Jets jersey. If he happens to become a Jet next year I'm getting a custom jersey made with his number that says Quizz.

    Todman's pretty nasty, agreed.

John Clay from Wisconsin too, big strong back.

Yeah so we can just say that next year's RB class is pretty ridiculous..especially if everyone declares.

    TOP 20

CJ Spiller is essentially Jahvid Best without the concussions/injuries

A lot like Mathews, Spiller never had any serious injuries in college...but both of them were constantly banged up.

...reminds me of Shonn Greene a little bit.

I said top 10 only because he has top 10 talent.

For the love of God, I hope he stays just one more season.

If not, I hope we wind up trading up for him. He and Greene in the same backfield is a scary, scary thing. I'm thinking Marion Barber/Felix Jones with much fewer injuries.
