I don't know if he deserves punishment. I could be wrong though, but from what I've read, the girl didn't charge Roethlisberger or took the complaint back - something like that. If thats the case, that doesn't mean Roethlisberger is innocent, it just means he wasn't charged for it. Charged or not charged, you have to be held accountable for what you do. If Roethlisberger is innocent, he should be able to file against the NFL and have his suspension removed in no time. There is a reason why the justice system is in place and for the most part of it, it does its job. If Ben is not innocent but just wasn't charged for it, he probably won't be appealing the entire ban.
in case you missed it, he has been suspended by the league according to the league rights approved by the players. he isn't criminally convicting him and sending him to jail, so how does that make him above the courts. are you purposefully attempting to confuse the issue or simply confused by the issue?
Look it's pretty simple to know if someone was raped or not... evidence of sexual intercourse is easy to find. The question is was she ok with it or was she raped? In all the cases when a woman is actually raped there are signs of VIOLENCE on her body. Bruises, small cuts and stuff like that. If there aren't any evidences on the girls body it means she was ok with it... ok so she didn't sleep over it, she had sex with him and then AFTERWARDS felt like she didn't want to and went to the police. I have no idea why she did it but if she didn't want to have sex with him she would've tried to oppose resistance right!? It's not fantasy, it's reality... if you see pictures of girls who ACTUALLY were raped they usually have at least some marks of the guy holding them down. PS and I read the articles... the only thing it said was that she was taken to the hospital straight afterwards because HER FRIENDS reported it... so one would figure some DOCTORS would find evidence of a rape...
Pace can't be serious. This is the 2nd time that Rothilesberger has been accused of sexual misconduct, which means, this dude has a problem keeping his hands to himself. Roth also needs to get rid of some or all of his current entourage (see Adam Pac-Man Jones), because they don't have his best interest at heart. Either these chicks are opportunistic (highly probable) or he's a perv (quite possible) or a little of both. Either way, he is making poor decisions and it's obvious he needs time to think about the decisions he's making and the people he's surrounding himself with. Is the 6 games excessive, when he wasn't convicted of anything? I'd say yes if this was the 1st time he'd done anything like this, but as previously stated, this is his 2nd time some chick has accused him of this.
Have you gone through the +500 page criminal report and found no evidence of bruising? Back to the OP: The training staff should just stitch "BIDEN" onto the back of his jersey.
The key thing to bring out of that is a rape victim usually doesn't want to prosecute at all due to embarassment and public ridicule. When you factor in the scrutiny of the media frenzy of an NFL superstar then yeah I can understand how she feels and how she asked he not be prosecuted. Very tough to convict a rapist when your victim won't or is reluctant to testify. Thank God Goodell had the balls to do soemthing about this. And yes, Pace, STFU.
So wait, there was a trial? And a jury found that the facts suggested beyond a reasonable doubt that he raped somebody? Or are you just taking a media report and feeling free to assume the guilt of a person you know very little about because it's easy and makes you feel like an upstanding member of the law-abiding community? If this had been a normal guy he wouldn't be suspended, because most employers wouldn't feel the need to ostracize somebody who hasn't been charged with anything. Maybe they even are willing to consider the possibility that their employee didn't do it. But the NFL is so image conscious that basic concepts of fairness don't really enter into the debate on stuff like this. NFL players live under a mandate, not only to not commit crimes (as is the case for society at large) but also to never be accused of one, which is to say, the NFL considers it's players responsible for the actions of others. If theres a chance some jackass at a bar might start a fight and have your name end up in the papers, guess what, you can't go to bars anymore. I wouldn't accept that from my employer, and NFL players shouldn't accept that from theirs.
Pacman Jones had not been convicted of a single crime at the time when he was suspended for the season. Just because your aren't found criminally guilty doesn't mean you didn't do anything wrong. Guess what? All those documents are now public record. Which means anyone can go read that the STARTING QUARTERBACK OF THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS OF THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE - FORMER 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICK - TWO TIME SUPERBOWL WINNING QUARTERBACK was accused by a underage GIRL with more than one eyewitness that he approached a chick with his dick out and then made sexual advances on her against her will. You can see it written down in her handwriting. All of the documents relating tp the case. If you haven't read the police reports, go read them. If that was anybody else, they would be charged with sexual assault. It doesn't fucking matter. You are an employee of the NFL and represent the Pittsburgh Steelers and represent the NFL. You make that decision when you sign your contract. Its pretty simple, dont get accused of rape. Fuck all of you who think he should walk away clean.
I'm saying proving a rape isn't like solving a CIA murder. If there was violence the girl would show traces... since NO ONE ever mentioned any sign of violence (not even news corporation that love news like these) I think there weren't any. It's that easy... signs of violence = you win the case. In my opinion (and this is just an opinion, the things written before are facts) she decided she was drunk and was ok having sex with him... then her friends saw her intoxicated and decided to report the whole thing to the police... but it wasn't a rape if she didn't resist the guy during the act!
Mambo this is so not true. There can be very little evidence of physical evidence. I have personally known girls who have been raped and none of them had physical cuts or bruises. Usually the THREAT of foce is enough. You are underestimating the strength of a man and the circumstances involved in a rape. Here, with alcohol involved the girl could probably barely stand. You need to do some real research on this before spouting off about stuff you don't understand or know about.
you're still missing the HUMONGOUS POINT that everyone else can see that rape isn't the only behavior the commissioner can suspend a player for as detrimental to the league, and getting a chick drunk to where she doesn't posses the capability to fend him off, have a body guard guide her to a bathroom and not allow her friends in to see her, and where Ben struts out with his dick hanging out and has sex with her kind of fits into the criteria of conduct detrimental to the league. how about you address that?
are you seriously asserting that rape doesn't occur until after a criminal trial is held that finds it so? sorry, the rest of the logical world believes the act is absolute of any jury findings, hence why people who commit criminal acts can be found not guilty and those who have not can be found guilty. the act is absolute, no jury required for intelligent human beings to weigh the evidence known and make a judgment on their own. I'm sorry for you that you can't make a judgment on these things independent of how a jury tells you you should.
I'm sorry but if a girl gets drunk it's her choice!!! How about learning to say no!? If you don't know how to do that it's not that someone is taking advantage of you.. it's that you are an idiot! (Not you you of course, I'm talking about the girl).
I bet right after it happened they did... I don't buy it... i think she would have still tried to resist him. Plus, and I'm thinking about some cases reported on the news, there are actual medical ways to determine if the sexual act was violent or not (not sure how to say it in englis, I mean if she was ok with it or if she was being raped) just by examining the genital parts of a woman. In my opinion she was drunk and ok with it... heck I've had sex with girls I'm not that proud of while drunk! If there were threats involved it would've been reported... news company make a living out of these stories.
I thik I got what you mean... my point is I don't think she said no or refused to have sex with Big Ben WHEN IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED (she understood she was wrong after, but right after doesn't count... if I decide to jump off a bridge and then change my mind it's too late)... What I meant was that she could choose wether to drink so much or not in the first place. Everyone is responsable for itself... If she CHOOSES to get drunk and then is ok to having sex with someone BECAUSE she is drunk then it's her responsabilty. It would be different if the guy forced her to drink. Anyway guys that's my opinion... I know you feel different about it and I'm ok with that. I know you are not ok with my opinion but hey... shit happens! Since I'm more interested about the draft than this story good-bye
Steroids infractions, drug test screenings, etc. in football directly relate to the performance on the field so the commish's office has full authority to suspend a player for what it seems fit. No one here is crying about the 4 game suspension levied upon Santonio Holmes. Actions pertaining to the field i.e Shawn Ellis throwing snow at fans could be covered by the NFL since it happened on the field. I believe the Commish is overstepping his boundaries into the Criminal Justice system. If/when a player is convicted/plea bargains/etc to an off field altercation then the Commish can step in and dole out the discipline necessary. In this case, just because it appears law enforcement dropped the ball, doesn't give him the authority, in my opinion, to suspend Big Ben.
