Some of you guys are being overly tough on Clemens IMO. He never really had a chance. He was solid when he filled in for Penny a few years ago, and he did win his one start this year, albeit against the Bucs. But what if Sanchez was only given such a small sample size to prove himself? He looked even worse at points than Clemens ever did, but had the advantage of being a top-5 pick.
Oh great, the Clemens apologists are out. He's not going to be anything for the Jets. He's not going to be a starter for any other team. Both of those facts mean that he is not going to be of any interest to the Jets. I cannot wait until he's traded so we can stop having these debates in the Jets forum.
our 1st round pick vernon gholston and kellen clemens for the rams 2nd rounder pick #33 and DE Chris Long can a man dream?????
Unfortunately, you will find out that around here getting traded doesn't stop anything. Just look at the Pennington threads that still get started even now.
I agree, he had cances under a solid line and did not out produce a rookie. He seems like a great guy, has a great attitude, but he'll be lucky to be a back-up in the NFL.
Never had a chance? He started in 9 games for us since he's been here and BARELY completed more than 50% of his passes. Not to mention he never showed ANYTHING that would remotely resemble talent, or anything salvagable. He's a bust. Plain and simple. Hell, many of us considered Ratliff more NFL-ready than Clemens and look at him now.
Imagine getting up in the morning, seeing your reflection in the mirror every day.....and wanting to punch yourself in the face.
I don't like that Cimini is also touting that Ellis rumor. And it does seem a bit risky to let Clemens go before the Jets have nailed down who the backup Qb will be...
Change out the porterhouses for 14oz. Delmonicos and it's a deal!! Seriously, with the Steelers shopping Brutal Ben on the backchannel, that pretty much kills any market for Clemens for anything worthwhile. Perhaps a late 3rd day pick in 2011 assuming no lockout but not much more than that. Even if you packaged Clemens and The Ghost, I doubt if you could move them.
So you admit to the resemblance finally! I'm not sure why anyone would want to punch Kellen in the face, though. I'd rather have him out of arms length x 1,000,000,000. IMO, he should go play in the CFL so you can capitalize on his celebrity status.
maybe they can send him to whoever drafts tebow...add kurt warner an you can have the "all god" team. /They all thank Jeebus when they win but no one ever blames him when they lose. "we would've won if jeebus hadn't made me fumble."
I have never cared much for Clemens even though I wanted to see him start over Pennington at one point (BIG mistake) then when he was handed a golden opportunity he blew it... plain and simple I dont see why this is even up for debate whether he is good or bad, in this leauge you are given the opportunity to suceed or fail and you are then evaluated on your performance given the circumstances and criteria of the outcome. Not every QB can be given the "Jake Delhomme" treatment and just try to ride it out see what happens I personally would like to see our 2nd round bust Clemens and our 6th overal bust Gholston traded for a 3rd round pick for 2010 or if the Ben Rottenfishburger incident wasnt going on I honestly would like to pick up Charlie Batch. Hell what am I talking about I would rather go pick up Vinny T from the rest home then the thought of Clemens being under center should something happen to Dirty Sanchez, to me this is just as bad as the thought of if McCain would had been elected President died and Sarah Palin was now our commander and cheif!!! scary stuff I tell ya scaaaaarrry lol
