I gave Tannenbaum a mulligan on all of his trade-ups when he went up for Sanchez. I hate trading up, since a good staff should be able to hit pretty consistently on their draft picks without cherry-picking, but when he went up for the QB it was more than worth it.
We've gone 4-12, 9-7, 9-7 since those moves. That's 22-26 over 3 years. If we win a Super Bowl and those guys are key, then yes the trade-ups were worth it. Edit: I've gotten to the point in my Jet's watching tenure when I really don't care how great an individual player is - I want to see a great team.
I remember watching this video last year and thinking, Phil Sims always seems to know WTF he's talking about. Over the long term I think he'll prove to be right. I will say that I did like what I saw from Stafford last season, especially in that Browns game.
What's funny is that six months after that, Simms said he'd take Stafford over Sanchez and Flacco and Ryan. I think he's been dinged in the head a few times too many.
So that's 9-7 2 years in a row. That's bad???? We are on the rise heading to the promised land. I am sorry, I am Mr. doom and gloom but what Mr. T has done moving up to target these players is nothing short of brilliant, especially, in the days of a cap.
