Trying to keep this realistic even tough it's hard to predict trades... We trade down from 1st round and get a high 4th while doing so. top rd 2 - Vlad Ducasse, RT He can become one hell of a RT if given the time to develop... and with us he can learn while playing in Jumbo packages and looking at Woody train every day. Plus we don't know for how long Callahan will be our OL coach... bottom rd 2 - Koa Misi, OLB We need an OLB and this kid can hit people. I think he'll be there because of how deep this draft is. high rd 4 - Javier Arenas, CB Small but I think he can really help us out as a nickel. Plus he's a very good PR which always helps... Donovan Warren would also be a good selection. Plus I like the idea of having a high 4rd pick because you get an extra night of sleep to decide what to do with it. low rd 4 - Arthur Jones or Mike Neal, DE I find it hard to believe Jones will be available but he has some injuries concerns so he might slip. Very similar players... both are 6-3 and about 300 lbs. I think Mike Neal is a very solid prospect and could help us out straight away. With this pick we could alternate one of the above mentioned guys and DeVito on one side while having Ellis, Pitoitua and Wright on the other side. 6th - Michael Hoomanawanui, TE Good all round TE. Right now we either have Keller who is a good reciever and Hartsock who is a good blocker... how about getting a balanced TE in the mix? 7th - Callahan Bright, NT or Naaman Roosevelt, WR This guy. Let's see if Rex really is as good as they say at coaching up good DTs. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/02/24/bright/index.html In Roosvelt's case I think he can develop into an adequate WR (think Stuckey) and I'd like to have him on the team. Who knows what our WR situation will be in 2011. Hope you guys enjoyed this mock Other option (for all you DE needy TGGers ) high 2nd - Linval Joseph, DE low 4th - Seyi Ajirotutu, WR 6th - Chris Scott, RT 7th - Instead of Roosvelt a blocking TE like Schuler.
Great Draft Mambo! This fills great aspects at every position and has multiple players that can immediately come in and make an impact. My only shaky player is Misi im too sure in his coverage skills but i definitely think he can murder a QB in any blitz situation
Thanks Well as of now it's pretty hard to guess how good in coverage a 3-4 OLB might be... but If we keep B. Thomas around they can alternate (since BT is a more complete guy). having Misi enables us to bring Rex's pressure better...
I'll be quite surprised if we come away from a draft that's this deep with Safeties, and don't end up snagging one to be our FS of the future. As high as I am on Brodney Pool's upside......I'm not sure the front office is very convinced he's a long term solution. (reinforced by the fact he was only signed to a one year deal)
Meh I gave a thought to the FS out there but I really wouldn't liek to go into the year with 5 safeties... 4 is good enough for me. But I know Tanny said he wants to add another one so keep your hopes up
I think defensive line has to be a bigger priority. Only adding a late 4th round pick with a checkered injury history at best to our aged/injured defensive line isn't something I feel comfortable with. I love the Misi pick in the 2nd though.
I think the CS likes Smith and Inhedigbo. Throw in Pool and I feel like whoever wins that job will play well.
As Bradway said today there are many players in rd 3 to 5 that can start and contribute staright away in the NFL... this is how good this draft is. I agree with him... I don't know about Jones (i'm not a doctor) but i think Mike Neal could come in and potentially start from day 1.
Jones is a beast as a 3-4 DE. He's had plenty of time to rehab and will be effective in the league. I also took him in my Mock as a late 4th rounder and where we both picked him would be great value, he can step in and start immediately.
True, but waiting till the late 4th round for something that should be one of if not the biggest priority in the draft ? If hes off the table youre stuck getting someone who doesnt fit or waiting till the end of the 6th.
I see what you are saying here but hear me out, Mambo went with BPA with Ducasse at RT in the early second which is a great option since he will start in the future or even his rookie season and can sure up our OLINE once again as it gets older. After that a true 3-4 DE like Alualu, Carrington, Odrick, Cam Thomas, or Linval Joseph will be long gone. After that early 2nd no real 3-4 DE will be available without reaching and skipping players that can also fit into our system that have more value. So picking Mike Neal or Arthur Jones in the 4th is a great possibility since many teams are looking for there 3-4 DE early in this draft.
Isnt Arthur Jones projected to go in the 2nd-4th anyway ? Before he was injured he was easily a 1st rounder, I just cant see him on the board at the end of the 4th. If hes there then it sounds like itd work out, but if hes not I wouldnt want that to be the weak link keeping us from a superbowl next year.
Yup... perfectly said Johnny ! I was also considering picking up a guy like Joseph in the top 2nd but there is no RT I really like after Calloway and he's like a 3rd round guy... To me RT is a pretty big need because Woody won't last forever and he has already had a big injury in his career... the OL is the HEART AND SOUL of this team!!!
In my opinion we are fine with DeVito and Ellis as starters... so even if A. Jones isn't there we'd find a way to get to the SB PS Plus I'm pretty high on Mike Neal...
Im really wondering if you checked out my Mock Mambo its completely similar to yours but with a bit more explanation and a different twist on some needs/players chosen. Would love to hear your feedback on it. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=55934
If drop out of the first and go down to the lets say 46th pick (17 pick drop), the compensation has to be around the 14th pick of the third round. Teams around the 45th-49th picks would be Denver, Giants, Panthers and 49ers. I wouldn't mind picking up either of this teams third rounders in the process of dropping back. Or drop 6-8 and pick up a 4th in the process according to this chart: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2410670 We can reach to the 17th if we trade away the first and the second. If Eric Berry is available at 7th and we really really want him, we have to give up our first and second this year, and a first OR second next yr.
Haha very similar indeed I didn't see yours before mine but I'm happy someone follows the same logic I do!
