A quote from Jay Feely's twitter "@mortreport if Mays is there at the end of first Jets will NOT take him. I guarntee it, even though they have a need" http://twitter.com/jayfeely/status/12368426357 So everyone can breathe a sigh of relief...
fuck!!! if Mort reported it....the opposite usually happens. I remember when he said Favre wasn't going to be a jet.
God I really hope this is the case because Mays is not a good fit for us.... couple that with the fact he sucks and only bad things can happen if we took him
How would Jay know about this stuff? He's even less credible than Mortneson. A former kicker has inside info...i doubt it.
With the needs the Jets have at DL and OLB being more than safety, I just can't see him being a consideration at the end of the first.
I'd like to see a link for that too.. But that's great to hear. I had a feeling in the back of my mind that they might try and take Mays at 29 thinking they could make him into a great player.
per rotoworld. I know the next 5 days will turn the NFL into the land of lies.....so i'm not really sure how much stock you can put into what position the Jets are targeting.....but according to the NY Daily News...they believe the Jets are going after a defensive front 7 player. Which makes total sense. Let's hope it's true.
^ Articles like those (regarding D-linemen) have been coming out for months so I'm a bit more incline to believe that one. With so few needs, I don't think there's any point to Tanny really trying to hide what positions (players are another matter) we're going after. 5-tech defensive end is the top need on my board (and has been for a while) followed by OLB and FS.
I read an interesting article recently about how the Jets draft. Apparently, they don't even take the Combine into account, they go mostly by game tape.
In the pre-draft presser they mentioned that they rank players based on game tape in February and make sure that's the biggest influence on their draft day boards. Bradway said that they don't put that much stock in the "olympics".
As you said, "...land of lies..." Anything could happen here but I'm treating most of the info coming out at this point as disinformation.
under the Tannenbaum era they have. That's why Gholston is the anomaly in the selections... but, as reported, Mangini made the power play for Gholston, and then waived around his combine numbers during a practice and was asking why someone wasn't playing up to those numbers. I have a feeling that's why Mangini got fired, along with the collapse. But the Gholston pick had plenty to do with his removal.
You still want to have as much leverage as possible, though, and maintaining a BPA stance should give us the best chance of trading down.
