    I agree.
Chauncey will have zero effect on any draft plans for the Jets.

This is getting comical. What I felt he was making up was that I didn't think we should not draft a RB because Chauncey Washington. You do not need to be football expert to know Chauncey Washington has done absolutely nothing in the league. Franky I'm surpise that he even has regular season stats to pull up. I brought him up only to express that drafting a RB EARLY in the draft when we already have 4 RBs (LT, SG, LW & CW) on the roster would be overkill. Being that we are thin at DE, need a pass rusher and could use a safety; RB can wait till the LATER rounds if we really wanted another one.

Ginn has more value than Washington? I disagree completely. I was thinking Gholston had similar value to Ginn. Maybe a 4-3 team would want him...or Oakland.

I still don't see why you would mention Washington. It's just a horrible argument. He's clearly not going to be on the team come the regular season.

So does drafting a Slot Receiver on a team that's going to pass more this year, and needs to feature their QB to sell PSL's.....

The Jets already have a slot WR. Spending a first round pick on a guy for four games with a QB who still has to learn how to pass to his RBs and TEs is not good value. And it's not like expanding the passing game is suddenly going to increase the fans' bank accounts. Try again.

Also, you're still overestimating how much the Jets are going to throw. Even if it's a 50/50 split that doesn't mean that Tannenbaum automatically adds in more 4 WR formations. It just means that the 2 WR, 3 WR, HB as WR sets get used more often.

Minor correction: Should the Jets draft a HB early?

Even fodder gets counted when you are looking at a depth chart cause at the end of the day it's a body. If I have 4 players at one position, excuse me let's say 3.5 as it sounds like you think fodder should probably not count as 1 (.5 is less than a slave, they at least counted a 3/5) but am very thin at another position, that fodder might be what makes me go one direction vs the other. If my 3 quality players can't go at least I have fodder, whereas if this other guy goes down I have nothing.

First what Tannenbaum ultimately decides has nothing to do with this. Second no one said it was a bad idea to draft a RB. I simply expressed an opionion that we ought to go a different direction early. History tells us that we can still find quality RBs late in the draft.

If the value is there, yes.
And at the end of training camp, it's another bartender trying to figure out what to do with his general education credits!
    The fuck?
Except that when evaluating a roster, you also look at talent and what/if anything they can contribute. Dexter McCluster, Toby Gerhart and Ben Tate can contribute to the offense by taking reps away from Greene, Tomlinson and Leon and reducing their risk of injury and help out as blockers or returners on special teams. In a party emergency, Chauncey Washington can be drugged and used as a make-shift coat rack.
I could have sworn that is exactly the issue we were debating, whether or not the Jets would/should take a RB early. Then again, this has nothing to do with anything because it's just speculation being made on the internet. Thanks for another irrelevant point.
History tells us that we can still find 3-4 DEs, Safeties, Guards, Nose Tackles, WRs, and even QBs late in the draft. If the best value is halfback at 29 or 61 then why not take the best value?

Are you really saying that if Ricky Sapp, Cam Thomas, Tyson Alualu, Chad Jones, Nate Allen, Morgan Burnett, Jerry Hughes, Corey Wooton and Koa Misi are all off the board at 61 with Toby Gerhart, Ben Tate or Dexter McCluster sitting there then it would be a mistake to draft them?

WE should draft a RB ONLY if we know there is some market to trade Leon and only if we don't think Chauncey Washington can't contribute.

I'm neither the GM or the coach of the Jets so I have no idea about those two things (especially about the first one... I have my theories on C. Washington) so I'm going to trust the coaches.

From MY perspective we need OLB, CB, DL, OT before we can even think about drafting a RB but if he's clearly the BPA what the hell...
