I was just checking the value boards and I think our best chance to get a guy like Brandon Graham or Earl Thomas is to trade with the 49ers.

    Here is how it looks.

    17th pick - 950 points
    29th pick - 640 points
    122 pick - 50 points

Difference = 260 points (early third round on the value chart)
They've already expressed interest, so maybe they would Value Leon enough to get this trade done.

If we package our 29th pick and our fourth rounder, they would only have to value Leon as an early third round pick to make the value chart even. I think the value would be close enough for them to consider.

I wouldn't be opposed to this at all, and I think it's a realistic option.

Hold on. You want to trade our #1, Leon AND our #4 to move up 12 slots?

Yikes. I would not like this for many reasons.

    1. I think you can get a guy just as good as Graham (if that's the position you are after) at #29 or at #38 for that matter (Kindle, Griffen, Hughes)
    2. Now you have to find another RB and you only have one decent pick left
    3. I don't really want to lose Leon
    4. I'd rather trade down

If we are trying to trade up for a safety, I think our best bet is for Berry. Thomas seems like he needs a couple years seasoning and the Jets are to close to push for a title to wait around for him.

if we gave up all that...just to move up and grab a Safety in the first round.......I'd probably walk around the neighborhood with a sawed off....and just shoot into crowds.

2 picks....and Leon. For a position that's somewhat deep in this draft class.......it better not happen.

Brandon Graham...on the other hand....i may consider a trade up. We need a pass rusher...and this guy fits the bill.

I don't really want to argue about weather we should trade up or down. I would rather trade back or stay at 29 myself. However, since we've traded up every year for the last 3 years, I figured this might actually be a reasonable scenerio.

Maybe you can get good value at 29. Maybe in 2007 we could have stayed put and picked Arron Ross, or Chris Houston, but we traded up for Revis. In 2008 we could have stayed put and picked Fred Davis, but we traded up for Keller. 2009, Sanchez or Freeman.

You might not want to lose Leon, but when Tanny says something to the effect of, you never know what could happen when the phone rings, the guy just might be gone.

Players values drop when they only have 1 year left. IE- holmes for a 5th. 3rd round value for Leon is great right now.

As I've said before, if the Jets FO absolutely must have a Graham or an Earl Thomas, then more power to 'em...trade up.

Tannenbaum has proven that he's big into quality over quantity, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt if he gives up seemingly a ton to get his man.

I'm not going to get pissed and say "We traded WHAT...??" if Tannenbaum decides it's in the team's best interest to get Thomas on this defense.
I'm not a sunshining Kool-aid slurper, I'm just saying Tannenbaum has earned some cred when it comes to the draft.

Agree that MT has earned our trust with his past moves.

I wouldn't mind this trade but it seems less likely now with the trade for Ginn. They needed help especially on ST that problem has been solved.

Oh shit that's right! That is half of Leons value right there.

We can litterally close this thread for all I care right now unless someone can think of a good case for anther team in the 15-20 range.

I don't really like the idea of giving up 3 picks for one player in this draft. Even the 4th rounder could be a great find for this team.

    Normally I'd agree.
But when Tannenbaum decides to exchange quantity for quality (Sanchez, Revis, Harris, Keller, Greene), he has made very good judgements.

If Tanny/Rex love Thomas (or whomever) enough to trade up, I'm cool with that.

I agree that he makes good judgements but we dodged a huge injury bullet this past season. With the age in the trenches, it's worth it to hang on to as much as possible.

I'm not a big fan of trading up but I would choose trading up over drafting Taylor Mays 100% of the time...Talyor Mays blows.

What other suitors are still out there for him? No matter how things go down, getting him back this season at full health is still a great option.
