Nah, 2010 will be his last year here I think/hope. I've kind of had enough of him. Imagine that though? You played on two of the most prolific offenses in the history of the NFL on teams that went a combined 31-1 during those two seasons, and no ring. I guess the "defense wins..." adage is true.
That and Randy only had 17 recs for 242 yds(a high of 75) in the 5 playoff games in '98 and '07(averages to 3 recs and 35 yds a game). Moss' 1998 and 2007 reg season averages per game: 5 recs, 88 yds, 1.25 TDs Moss' 1998 and 2007 postseason averages per game: 3 recs, 35 yds, .29 TDs
I have two groups I'd put ahead of them: Wesley Walker, Al Toon with Mickey Shuler at TE in the mid 80s Keyshawn Johnson, Wayne Chrebet, Dedric Ward in the late 90s. Of course we're not old enough to have seen Maynard and Sauer live so I left them out of it.
Maynard and Sauer were the best tandem which makes sense since they won a SB and since Don Maynard was the best WR in Jets history. Walker/ Toon are second best.
Anyway, Sanchez should start seeing less 8-man fronts and more 6/7-man fronts. Can't wait to see that!
Key/Chrebet/Ward was really good but not as good as this gropu. key is the best of the bunch but the depth this group has(and the ealry 90s) surpasses that one especially when you add in keller. The mid 80s group was right there as well. Toon and Walker were perfect compliments for each other, i wish toon came around about 4-5 years earlier.
I agree, but the tandem of Don Maynard, George Sauer, Bake Turner, Pete Lammons was pretty lethal also...
Throw Brad Smith in the mix as well with this roster and it's certainly dangerous on paper but the best trio I saw was Key, Chrebet and Ward as far as WRs go but the whole mix was Toon, Walker, Shuler, McNeil and Hector with Kenny O throwing them the ball. Even Pathetic Pat Ryan won a playoff game with those guys. Just imagine if guys like Criswell, Haight, and Cadigan didn't stink up the Meadowlands on a near weekley basis?
those 3 OL didn't start until the late 80s when Walker was done and some of those other guys were nearing the end of their careers.
This group does have the potential to be the best we've ever had. In terms of all time best I'd go with Sauer / Maynard / Lammons Walker / Toon / Shuler Keyshawn / Chrebet / Ward Coles / Moss / Chrebet
I never thought too much about your early 90s group, one thing is they didn't have a great team or QB so maybe they get left under the rug. O'Brien was older and beat up without a great line, which exposed his greatest flaw, Nagle was a bust for his one year and Boomer had a half a great season with that group before the wheels came off and Coslet ended up getting fired. Moore to me didn't last long enough and was one of those "potential" guys who never lived up to it, Toon was Toon, Mathis flourished after he left.
No the greatest but two of my faves- Our 6-10 1994 campaign- Rob had 78 receptions for over a thousand yards that year. Rob moore / WR Johnny Mitchell / TE Art Monk / WR In 1991 Al Toon and Rob Moore both had close to a thousand receiving yards.
Yeah, I just loved the tandem. Rob Moore was one of my favorite players with Adrian and Al Toon is Al Toon.
I wish you could implant the heart of a guy like Troy Brown or Wayne Chrebet into Moss' very talented body.
Yeah that would be special, the guys with all the talent just expect it. Compared to the guys that truly have to work hard every single day just to compete. I think Jerry Rice is probably one of the only examples at that position, it's a very short list.
