Okay so first hear me out. Leon just signed his tender and if he stays here, I think the Jets have more dangerous targets than anyone in history. As of now we have, Holmes, Edwards, Cotch, Keller and Leon Washington, LT, and maybe Clowney will get his head out of his ass this season too, who knows. Obviously all of them would have to step up and play well, but if they can then I would say that I can not think of another time a team had all of these receiving weapons, especially when you include players outside the WR position. THINK of those formations! You got everyone lined up an ace or a single back 3 WRs, Holmes and Edwards got each side, Cotch in slot and then Keller waiting to take advantage of a mismatch...oh yeah gotta worry about Leon/LT too. If Sanchez can step up this year, I say this to D coordinators around the league....be afraid! EDIT THIS IS BEST TEAM IN JET'S HISTORY NOT THE NFL's LOL
Is it just me or is everyone forgetting about Shonn Greene's explosiveness. He will be the most important part of our offense this year.
I wanna see all of the perform and produce for this team before we go ahead and annoint them anything but the potential to be a highly dangerous and productive offensive unit is there.
Id say it easily has the potential to be the best receiving corps in Jets history but can't say all NFL
I think the best WR corps we ever had was in the early 90s w/ Al Toon, Rob Moore, Chris Burkett and Terrance Mathis. That group didn't have a TE that could catch like keller and maybe his presence and the backs out of the backfield pushes this gorup past that group but as far as just WRs go I take that early 90s group.
NFL history? You're Delusional. Unless you're talking about Jets history, then you have an argument here.
lt and holmes have yet to play for the jets, you can talk about potential but asking if they're the best is just retarded so i guess my opinion is that this post is retarded
Best case senerio everyone performs to their potential and it's the best recieving core in jets history. As far as NFL history, no way. The rams at the begining of this century come to mind, greatest show on turf.
The NFL Network did a special on this once and here's what they listed: 10. 2000's Colts 9. Late 90's Vikings 8. 80's/early 90's Redskins 7. Dolphins' Mark Brothers and Nat Moore 6. 70's Raiders 5. 60's Redskins 4. 80's 49ers 3. 50's Rams 2. Greatest Show on Turf (Rams 1999-2001) 1. San Diego Chargers "Air Coryell" It would be really hard to put up an argument that has the current Jets' corps anywhere near that list, especially since we're still almost five months away from them actually playing in a game. They may turn out to be great, but even right now among active rosters, there are probably at least three teams that I'd rank higher.
I'm also assuming the OP was referring to best receiving corps in Jets history, not NFL (which would clearly be asinine). This group certainly has the potential, but I'm not crowning them in April.
the Holt, Bruce, Az-Hakim group wasnt too shabby either... Hmmm...maybe the fact they all played with the same hall of fame QB has something to do with it? And by the way...I vote for Marshall, Ginn, Best, and Hartline...all these Fin douches have convinced me...
It takes more than just WRs to be the best WR corps. The ball doesn't magically teleport into their hands as soon as it is snapped. Put Boldin, Fitz, Breaston et al. on the Raiders with Jamarcus and who are they?
My first thought was Carter/Moss/Reed. I'm actually a bit surprised to see them only at #9. I'd put them even with the GST. I'd only put Air Coryell at the top if you get to include Winslow as well, but I assumed this was WRs only. I'd say 4, 9, and 2 are the best on the list.
