I think the Eagles have 2 2nd rounders as well, that might be a team who'd want Leon.

No one is giving a 2nd. They would have given us that second already if they had planned on it. Stop pretending we will.

I'm just going to keep on saying it because this^ is funny. You forgot to end this one with how you don't care anymore.

If they wanted to surrender a 2nd rounder for him, they would have made him an offer BEFORE the deadline to sign RFAs expired. Nobody is going to now trade a 2nd for him, especially after the diminished trade receipts we've seen this offseason.

Did any of you seeking a 2nd (not singling you out here, Bvon) notice that Marshall just went for a pair of 2nd rounders, and that it was the highest compensation we've seen this offseason? The trade values have been low, and Leon isn't top flight trade bait. He's a guy who has been used as a COPB and a KR coming off a big injury. Many of us, myself included, have mistakenly thought someone could take a chance on Leon. Then teams demonstrated what they're willing to pay this offseason.

We're not getting above a 4th for him, and it'll likely be lower than that. Keep the man.

I don't care if we keep him or trade him. I do however have a vested interest in what happens with him because it effects the rest of the team, via 3rd string back or late round pick.

Who was the last premier back that was traded for a 1st day draft pick let alone a change of pace back coming off a major leg injury? Those expecting a 2nd or 3rd for Leon need to get sober quick.

So some posters on TGG don't understand the potential value of a 4th or 5th round pick. How does that mean that the Jets cannot find a backup HB in those rounds?

The Eagles already have McCoy. Why would they want a smaller version of him who can't go between the tackles?

It doesn't mean we can't find a backup HB in those rounds. Hell, we found one in Leon. I'd just personally rather keep him if that's our option. Yes, it's a risk, and yes it's likely one season. However, we're obviously gearing up for this season to be a big one.

The 2nd and 3rd round aren't first day rounds anymore. Semantics aside, that gives GMs a lot more time to wheel and deal.

    Mark my words,
When Leon returns a KO or a screen or makes a big play I am going to round up every single name that threw him away like a piece of garbage and throw it right the fuk back in your faces....

I really want him to stay on this team, but I'm getting the feeling that he won't be.

I never said he couldn't do it, just that it would be better to get something for him this season instead of letting him walk for free next season. Also, go ahead. I'll be sure to ignore it.

This. Leon's a good player. I don't want to dump him for a 5th round pick. You can find a gem in the 5th round, sure, but here's the last 11 Jets' 5th round picks.

    2008: Erik Ainge
    2006: Jason Pociask
    2005: Andre Maddox
    2004: Erik Coleman
    2003: Matt Walters
    2003: Derek Pagel
    2002: Jonathan Goodwin
    2000: Windrell Hayes
    1999: Jermaine Jones
    1998: Doug Karczewski
    1998: Blake Spence

On that entire list of 11 players, you have 2 guys who are NFL starters in Goodwin and Coleman, and no one is mistaking Coleman for a star. Goodwin is a solid player, but he didn't even make it with the Jets as he only started 13 games in 4 seasons.

Give me Leon Washington. Even if he leaves after the year, we could probably get a 5th round pick in the compensatory drat at some point. Maybe we still end up signing him down the line. Who knows. But Washington is more valuable than that.

And we're not getting a 3rd. Maybe a 4th and a 5th, or maybe a player of some sort, but I don't think the Jets want to trade him. I think the Jets' skill position players are set other than tight end.

If we trade Leon for a pick, we have to spend a pick on a runningback. And who will help out the 2010 Jets more, Leon or a day three pick? 99 times out of 100, Leon.

I'd rather keep him, if he comes back 100% we will be deadly. I like having three backs anyway, gives us more to work with.

I don't see why we wouldn't keep him. Half of the offensive starters are out of contract after the season, so one more won't make any difference.

No. We don't have a 5th round pick.

I don't see why anyone would WANT Leon to go.

The issue is if he's going to be gone after this season anyway, then it's better to get value for him now while we can rather then letting him walk to the Patriots for free.

I'd rather keep him and I'd rather sign him long term. I appreciate the fact that we've been able to find RBs late, but why tempt fate?
