Apologies if discussed elsewhere, but I'm reminded by a story on ESPN that Daunte Culpepper is still looking for a job - could he do a job on the money that Feely's release has freed up? I think he'd certainly be an upgrade on Clemens.

i know i've mentioned this in another thread....but it bears repeating here.

"I'd take a stage 4 retard over Clemens"......

I would welcome Culpepper as a backup. :)

I've yet to understand why we have 3 mediocre QB's (as far as we know on Ainge and O'Connell anyway) sitting on our bench behind Sanchez. Maybe its contract-related, but I don't see why we can't just get rid of Clemens and one of the other 2 and sign an older QB with some game experience in case of injury. That way we have a veteran QB to manage a game in case Sanchez goes down and another guy as a emergency backup. I'd be much happier knowing that behind Sanchez there's a guy who's been in big games before whose name ISN'T Kellen Clemens.

Seems like an awful waste to have so many bench QBs on our roster. We could always pick up someone just as good as these guys on our bench in the middle of the season in case of an emergency.

I still don't get that O'Connell trade. That's a question i'd love to hear someone ask Tanny.
    WHY?

Me too. Something to do with the Pats????
I have to say, what I have seen from Ainge has really impressed me. I was a Ratliffe fan, But Ainge looked very very good in pre season last year.
Problem is, I actually think he will be a good starter, somewhere.

Until he gets to prove himself in a regular season game (which may be never), he's just another pre-season hero. He may be good but I don't think we can really evaluate that until he's in a game that matters. Hopefully he never sees the field in a Jets uniform except to take a few knees or in garbage time.

I'm assuming it's because they felt the Pats gave up on him too soon. He was viewed as a high potential project before he was drafted. I'm guessing the FO felt he still had time to show the potential.

That is my feeling to on Ainge. I wish that we could get him some reps in the pre-season to where he shows enough to entice other teams to take a shot on trading for him.
He's a big kid and from what i've seen has a pretty nice arm.

Yeah but with Sanchez just being drafted we knew he'd never realize his potential with us so i still don't understand it.

Jeff Garcia. He's proven he can win and if sanchise goes down I'd trust him more than hellen Keller AKA Kellen Clemens

He was someone the Jets thought they could develop into a backup and for a conditional pick which I have to assume turned out to be nothing, what was the downside except for the roster spot?
