It's obvious at this point that Leon is not going to be around in 2011, so loyalty means letting him walk without any compensation, possibly to a division rival? That's just a terrible football decision. Yea, 4 games in 2 seasons. You got me on that one. It's only a straw man argument if I'm trying to convince people it's believable. I think most people can see that that statement is a hyperbole. I'll just defer to Iggy's response on this one.
Well, It looks like we will be passing a lot more. I thought Jones should have stayed as our 3yd a carry workhorse (keeping the defense honest), but I'm happy with LT. He seems like he has something to prove to the league, and nobody can question his drive for a championship. At this point im bored with Leon, and really not sold on him making a 100%recovery. I hope he has enough value that we can get a nice pick. I think a rookie running back would do well under our leadership at the position (LT & a seond year back), the offensive line, and a hungry NYJ fanbase. That being said if he wears green and white next year, I hope he accomplishes his goals and the expectations of our team.
If we ever lost leon, I would be pissed. The guy is still young and has done nothing but good things when he has the football. How quickly we forget how vital he was during the 08 season.
The 07-08 season when the Jets were 4-12 or the 08-09 season where the Jets were 9-7 and missed the playoffs? There is no loyalty in football.
If we think the Dolphins want LW and want to get rid of Brown then why not trade one for one? I think Brown is gonna get suspended for DUI so he fits our criteria.
I thought about this but it really doesnt make sense. Whoever the jets get for the #3 back isnt going to see many carries for at least 2 years (when LTs contract expires and he very likely retires). Ronnie Brown would be 30 before wed really need him. If it was just Greene and Leon id say youre onto something, but with LT here it just doesnt make sense.
All the guys on here hating on Leon are the same ones that said Brad Smith was worthless. The same guys that say Jerricho is not our best receiver. You don't know crap and you bail on guys when the wind changes. Sure lets trade Leon and draft a guy that in our wildest dreams we hope is as good as Leon. That makes sense.
Time to acknowledge the fact that he probably has less than a 25% chance he will be back. He burned his bridges last year and then he got hurt...really bad combination.
I think leon was a dynamic runner that changed the game whenever the ball was in his hands. I would love to CONTINUE to see him in a Jets uniform. He is proven and is worth another shot
I'm a huge Leon fan, but that said....if he's going to be a malcontent and if we can get a second or third rounder for him at this point I'd do it. He's going to walk after 2011 anyways so might as well get something for him. I don't discount what Leon has done for the team in the past, nor do I discount that he can be very productive today.
Well Holmes and Edwards both have only one great season under their belts. However both have more talent than Jericho, anyone that can not admit that is either a blind homer and/or dumb. JC is a very good football player, not elite. Both of the other knuckleheads have all the potential in the world, Holmes has the edge because his hands aren't bricks.
People are starting to confuse a good productive player, and a player that is deserving of such loyalty that Roba and Bobba Jet are referring to. When I think of Jets that deserve loyalty (I'm a young 24 so don't get pissed I'm not naming many beloved Jets you more seasoned guys probably like) I think of guys like Curtis Martin, Wayne Chrebet, Ellis, guys who have been on the team for many many more years than Washington. I like Washington don't get me wrong, but it's because he is productive in the 3 years he has been here. He in no way gets any sympathy as being a "loyal Jet" for being on the team 3 years. And I really think LT (I will call him LT) is going to surprise a lot of you guys this year. Roba you just don't want to change your avatar don't lie
I hate when people confuse "hate" with looking at a situation objectively and with dollars and cents in mind. Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, D'Brick Ferguson, Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, David Harris, Leon Washington, Braylon Edwards. That's a list of players who are on their rookie contracts or on a one year RFA tender and will require a new contract sooner rather than later. If you had to pick one, which one would you not mind seeing leave the team at some pt in the near future (either this year or most certainly next)? That's what I thought
I only get to pick one? -Leon isn't going to be resigned. -We're not keeping Holmes and Edwards. One gets a contract and the other walks. -Harris is probably the easiest one to replace if everyone plays to the top of their game.
