vs. Game 1: Tuesday @ 1:05 PM **RING CEREMONY** Santana (0-1, 6.00) v. Pettitte (0-0, 1.50) Game 2: Wednesday @ 1:05 PM Pineiro (0-1, 4.50) v. Vasquez (0-1, 12.71) Game 3: Thursday @ 7:05 PM Kazmir (0-0, 0.00) v. Hughes (0-0, 0.00) _____________________________________ I think Angels take game 3.
I think the Yankees take games 1 and 3. I'm shaky on Vasquez in his first Yankee Stadium start. How long after the first run do you think it'll take before he gets booed?
Matsui would have hit two in that at bat. Seriously, though, never underestimate the effect Yankee Stadium can have on lefty hitters. Damon averaged 14 HRs per 162 games in his non-Yankee career. He averaged 22 per 162 games as a Yankee.
And boy did they do it right. They called out all the Yankees, and after everyone was lined up, they called out Matsui. The Stadium went nuts and then the Yanks bumrushed Matsui before he got a chance to walk back to the Angels dugout. The Stadium again was going crazy when Matsui came up to bat. He gets ins the box as the fans are cheering loudly, Pettite steps off the mound allowing him to appreciate the full roar of the crowd. Matsui steps out and waves his batting helmet in acknowledgement to the fans. Awesome watching it. I can only imagine what it must have been like being there.
Can't wait to see this later. I forgot to DVR it, hopefully they will have a Yankee replay @ 7 tonight.
Yeah, so how about that Nick Johnson fuck? Hits a first inning homer, strikes out with the bases loaded later. Fuck Nick Johnson. Does that answer everyone's questions?
Why don't you put up a prediction about how you think Matsui will do this year vs. how you think Johnson will do? That way, you'll have an objective metric to compare their performance and you won't be able to trick yourself into thinking that every negative play is evidence that you're right. (Whoops! Looks like I answered my own question.) You don't even have to post it here. Just jot it down on a piece of paper and check it at the end of the year.
How's this for objectivity? Fuck Nick Johnson. (Not objective? Hmph...) Last year, in almost identical #ABs, Matsui hit 28HRs. Nick Johnson? 8. Matsui had 90RBI. Johnson? 62. Matsui's OPS: .876. Johnson: .831. Matsui's SLG: .509. Johnson: .405. Oooooooo. Nick Johnson will walk 30 times more than Matsui! Yippie! Gotta love that OBP! Fuck Nick Johnson. Here's my "predicition." Matsui will be a better DH than Nick Johnson and his hundred walks. THE DH POSITION IS FOR POWER HITTERS.
Pretty sure I just heard Nick Johnson walk to the plate with "Party in the USA" as his plate appearance song.... Waiting on verification from a friend at The Stadium.
