This topic may be 'overrated', but I don't think it really is.
Obviously Thomas Jones was our 'vocal' leader

If I had to pick a position player I'd say Tomlinson. Otherwise, I'd probably say Faneca

Mark will slowly start to lead this year, with the experience he got last year, especially in the playoffs.

Most of the offense talked about his leadership skills already and that was during his rookie year.

I hear that LT isn't that much of a vocal leader, but I'm not too sure about that. I think the obvious answer is Mark Sanchez needs to step up, and make this HIS offense.

This is Sanchez's offense. He has to step up and take charge.

This is Mark Sanchez's team. He is already one of the leaders of the offense and will take on a more leadership role in 2010.

I selected Mangold....he's proven himself since Day 1 and surely has earned the respect of the entire lockeroom. There are other great choices in that poll....but i think Mangold would be a logical choice for a vocal lockeroom presence.

I think the QB must ALWAYS be the leader. Not that there can't be others helping obviously, but the QB position is such a natural leadership role. You have the rock every play, your calling all the plays, you run the huddle, audible plays, etc. He is a natural leader and I think despite so many veterans on the team as a whole, he will step up in a big way as part of his development.

Any other answer than Sanchez is a fail.

Year 2 it's time for Mark to the leader....actions and vocal.

that's a tad extreme. So Sanchez should be the only vocal leader in the lockeroom because he's the QB? He should be ONE of the leaders...but not the only one.

The Jets drafted Sanchez in large part because of his natural ability as a leader. WW85 got it right.

LT will help his fellow teammates pick out the right shade for their visors.

How funny would that be if our entire team came out wearing those things.

It won't be Faneca. He's a shy person and too very soft spoken.

Obviously, it's got to be Sanchez.

I think Mangold leads by example, and Sanchez will eventually take over this role, but the guy I look for being the leader this coming year is really Edwards. (I know I am hardly one of the big optimists here, but watch this.) I think he's going to cut down on his drops, have not only learned the whole system but find a way to flourish in it, make big plays, and inspire the whole team with his effort. He will be a star this year, and it will inspire the rest of them.

    Heh.

Not only does Sanchez have to be the leader of our offense for us to be successful, but if he is not the sole leader it could be disasterous for us. We are loaded with talent, but also loader will volatile personalities that could explode if they feel they aren't being utilized.

Sanchez has to take full controll of the huddle and make his teamates follow his lead, without question.

He's ready, that was a huge reason why they traded up for him. His leadership skills.
We saw his progressions last year, getting pissed when Rex called timeouts, even calling some successful audibles.

If you can lead 6 beautiful woman into a sedan he can lead 10 guys all over the NFL.

Sanchez easily, why do you think we got him in the first place besides him being a talented QB, he's got all the leader qualities you need in a QB

    This. +1
