1. This is a block of shit, space. 2. Mangini coveted high character guys so much that it caused our team to go really no where. There's a different between guys with 1 or 2 mistakes and bad guys with bad character. I got caught with weed once, do I have bad Character? 3. I think Pitt planning to cut Holmes is grade A bullshit. Almost every team in the league would have picked this guy up for a lower draft pick then 5, I'm sure Tanny just offered a higher picked than everyone else. 4. Someone already stepped up saying they threw the glass, not Holmes. 5. Why would the Jets just let their 2 best receivers walk? Just for the fuck of it? That's an incredibly stupid scenario. 6. The Jets releasing their 2 best WR for no reason is just so stupid it needs to be pointed out again. They would be giving the entire fan base, and Mark Sanchez, a huge middle finger. This is just being pessimistic for the hell of it.
Braylon - How is he a one year deal? This would be his second. Antonio Cromartie - If he plays like he is supposed to, I doubt we let him walk. Santonio - Its a 5th rounder. Who is the 5th rounder on our roster from the last, lets say, 4-5 drafts? I guess you don't understand the concept of contract year. I also guess that you do not know of this something called "Franchise Tag" along with RFA rules. Yeah, you get 3 tags alone in the non capped years. If someone comes and pays either one of them a $10 mil contract and we lose em, we have $10 mil to spend in FA. Tanny is not some Madden geek trying to put a Madden team together.
Some more elaboration on 5 & 6 - Money talks. Jets have enough money to spend. We have always been on the verge of touching the salary cap. Now that we don't have cap in the foreseeable future, Im sure we'll lock these guys up. Either that or tag and trade. Nothing is lost, OP.
On top of all the logic being throw out there against the OP, here's a little observation. This is football, not cricket. This game is played by the strongest, most aggressive among us. Its not a game for the meek, the mild mannered nor the bland. The last time this team has this much character was back in the days of Keyshawn and Brian Cox. Neither one could be considered "choir boys". That team won and yeah, that team had a attitude just like this version of the Jets do. You really want beige? You want a team of Gholstons? You want Mangini back? Character counts for sure but at the end of the day, its about winning first and foremost. None of these guys are ever gonna be role models but look at TO, Moss, Holmes. They all have a SB appearance in their resume and a ring.
Besides Edwards, Cro, and now Holmes, who do we have that has notable character issues? The Bengals and Cowboys have had more bad character guys. At least the Bengals never had this much talent.
those are the only three, but people are beginning to shit bricks over it. Edwards has been well behaved. Jenkins has been fine, Crom and Holmes won't have problems either.
Come on dude if the Jets signed Heinrich Himmler,Hitler and Mussolini, Rex Ryan would whip their asses into shape.
Some people really need to grow a pair. We have Rex Ryan, the ultimate player coach. After what he did last year, I'm not going to doubt him until he gives me a reason to. My guess is that he's probably going to tell the team that the Super Bowl is right there for the taking. If they want it, they can have it. I also like what Bart Scott said about the peer pressure with this team. All things considered, if the players are able to bond and want to win for each other they can win a championship! Everything else will come along with that.
If we're using the # of Google results as an accurate unit of measurement for someone's character, here are a few more: "Tom Brady woman beater" 9,660 results "Eric Mangini cannibal" 7,660 "Pope John Paul woman beater" 5,450 results "Mother Teresa prostitute" 87,200 results "Abraham Lincoln punches babies" 51,700 results
I don't think Moss or Owens own a SB ring. There are limits as to what type of character you will have on your team. Everyone and every team has its limits. The key is to get guys who are hard workers and who will not destroy the chemistry of the team. That is why I think teams will put up with a Holmes or a Moss, but not an Owens. (Though Moss you have to be careful with). Rhodes though not officially a bad apple, probably was a character problem for the Jets lockerroom, thus bye-bye. Obviously you cannot continually put up with drug abuse, but a mistake doesn't make someone a bad character. Stupid choice if done once. Character has to be judged over time and a truly bad character will destroy any system eventually - I don't care how "cool" the team is.
Supposedly Rex relates to all types of players and MT said he expects Rex to get the best out of these guys despite off the field troubles.
Yeah that is a ridiculous measuring tool. It's searching every word in the phrase not just the names combined with the beating aspect. Results 1 - 10 of about 45,200 for (insert name) woman beater. (0.48 seconds)
1) Braylon Edwards has been nothing but a model teammate, and person, since he arrived here, Cleveland was Cleveland, this is NYC. 2) Antonio Cromartie is not a "bad boy." If anything, he might have been more appropriately labeled a foolish boy. In any event, the operative word in both cases is "boy", which is something Cromartie no longer seems to be acting like. 3) Santonio Holmes is the only "real" bad boy of the three, but he now has strong motivation to clean it up and keep it cleaned up - one more incident and he's gone for a year. He'll stay clean for at least the next year or two. 4 words: Low Risk, High Reward. That Mikie T is one smart dude......
All 3 guys have played in SB's which is something I'd certainly would like to see for us. I agree with your post and if it were 7 or 8 years ago, I'd even put up with TO for a season if it meant a SB appearance. Today, probably not TO like you said. Moss? He's been a decent citizen since his arrival in NE and Holmes/Cromartie should both look at what happened to Pacman Jones as a roadmap of what not to do in your non-football life.
As if smoking pot and banging chicks has ever had an adverse effect on a pro athlete?:rofl::rofl::rofl:
yea if your gonna do something like that youve gotta use boolean code, like the word AND or "" quotes around things or +, but i dunno what all the codes are and how to use em
I found 122,000 for Mother Teresa Prostitute Results 1 - 10 of about 122,000 for Mother Teresa prostitute. (0.20 seconds)
